Care to give a summary of what this is before I devote an hour and a half to watch it? Seriously, the first 1:30 is nothing but fancy visuals, then I hear a voice say "Listen to me. Please."
ok first 20 minutes is earth before humans. You can skip this. The rest is worth to watch, but that also depends on how well educated you are. But in general its about polluting and the human destruction of the evironment. Also a small fraction of it is about the unequality of wealth. But hey! the quality is really good and a lot of fascinating scenes There is not so many numbers and they dont go into details about global warming. Its more like global warming is here, and if its here this is what will happen.
Seems like we are doomed for dozens of reasons and the only question is what and when exactly gets rid of us...
Didn't notice this wasn't in space junk. Now I know. So what did I say wrong? It's still a bunch of blablabla and sad music.
You guys really buy into this ****? I mean sure we need to do something about it, but even if worst comes to worst, our species will still survive. Y2k ****, a lot of people thought it might happen, nothing happened. 2012 disaster or w.e, I really doubt something will happen, it's just a bunch of people getting laughs at how huge their stories really can go. Now this. Have more faith in your species, if things truly become bad, we will find a way to endure it.
Most people including me seem to be skeptical about the video and the topic in general, why would you get the impression that we buy into it? This is not exactly fitting into the category of Y2k or 2012 but its close enough for me to unsympathize with this 'documentary'.
Y2k, 2012 disaster and uncontrolled human behaviour are 3 different things. Dont mix them up. I urge everyone to discuss uncontrolled human behaviour because thats what its all about. Beleive me, this is not the first documentary i have seen about it. I have seen plenty documentaries that makes a much more indepth analysis. I didnt believe in y2k, dont beleive in 2012 if its the thing that comes from some pyramid. I do beleive in uncontrolled human behaviour, because i can already see it. Ask a capitalist to pay his employees more, he refuses. He wants more and more, if you dont regulate it through unions and strikes. If the employees dont act it will go out of control. Same goes with nations, they spend ressources in an uncontrolled manner because no one is controlling them.
the guy who made this documentary is very well known worldwide, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a man who filmed the whole world with his camera, flying with a balloon. His goal ? To show how our world is beautiful, and how it is fragile.
Regardless of 'buying into' this video, it should be mentioned that global warming is not a ****ing hoax. And yes, it is a threat, a severe one. However the timescale for dramatic changes is way over 10 years.
I agree that people are fraking the world up, I think most people in here think the same, but these sorts of videos are just emotional blackmailing. The last thing I need is to watch more and more documentaries with miles endless list of statistics and images of poor people. (although again, the scenes were beautiful) I dont understand your capitalist argument. Yes business owners want to make money and sometimes their hapiness is more precious to them than hapiness of other - what a shocker. Thats why we do have trade unions and such so we counter-weight the natural human greed and desire of achievement. For the last point - we are consuming more energy as our lifestyle developes and its going to get only worse, thats why instead of having silly hippie protests we should focus on getting more nuclear power and hopefuly, power from fusion.
