200000.00 Minerals Unattainable

Lets assume for a moment that StarCraft 2 will be out in either Summer or Winter 2008. This is about 1 year away.
Lets say you post 21 times per day and make about 10 minerals per post. In 365 days when StarCraft 2 comes out you will have made 76650 minerals, less than half of what you would need for the StarCraft 2 item.
Now, If you have that many posts on a forum dedicated to StarCraft 2, the chances of you not getting the game on launch day is slim to none and even if you didn't get it on launch day you would not wait over a year more posting 21 times a day (most of these posts probably being you pleading everyone else who has the game for more and more information about it) just to get 200,000 minerals for that item.
So, it is a nice item (which I was at one point aiming for even though I make over $50 a day doing basically nothing) but it simply is not attainable.

 

Well, if I was giving away something worth 50 dollars on my forum. It better me someone that posts like 100 times a day with really constructive posts to get it.

I dont want to sound mean but if you spend THAT much time on the forums JUST to get enough for the game, I think you should reset your priorities in life and maybe get a job to pay for it instead.

Heh, the way I see it, there will be many, myself included with a high possibility of sticking around the forum even after the game comes out. In fact, I think THAT would be the most appropriate time for a forum about the game, since 70% of the forum is speculation. I think given the established members and the overall "sense of community" ppl would love to come back and still chat it up and talk about how it actually turned out.

Now, given that assumption, I would think it'd still be pretty kickass to one day up 'n realize that u get to have a full copy of SC2 obtained through just long hard dedication. I think it's more of a sense of reward than anything else. It's like if you go to an arcade and you play those raffle ticket games, it's really more of a sense of accomplishment/skill than actually thinking u'r getting a legitimate deal. I don't think there's anything in an arcade where it'd be cheaper to actually play the games to get it than to just buy it.

Anyway, that's just my take. Good luck to those who are tryin, haha. Just don't spam with lame posts just to get minerals like this one of mine ;P

 

Why would you want to obtain another copy of StarCraft 2 if you already have it. That's just greedy.

 

If you post very constructively, the Global Mods will give you extra minerals, usually between 300-500 minerals for every superb quality posts. We also give out items that can boost your interest rate. So it is achievable to have 200,000 minerals before the release of starcraft 2.

 

Man 21 post a day isnt even trying for it, heres my plan: 1 post on every single thread on every single forum (exculding space junk) everyday for 365 days, i dont know how many post that is but im sure its a lot more then 21. and it wouldent be that hard becuase most post are just comments on other peopols post. so what do you think would that work?

 

It's not the practical usage of a a second copy, it's just the rewarding feeling which was what I was talkin bout the whole time. And plus, it's not like the forum administrators set it at a place where it'd be easily obtainable. They figured there would be a few die hard extremists who would just go nuts and, yea sure, why not. It's fun to see as an "obtainable" item in the shop. Most of the items are just for fun like the pets 'n what not.

What about people who can't afford SCII in stores? This is basically free for them. Who cares if it takes them a little longer, as long as they get it?

 

If people can't afford SC2 in stores, their computers are probably not good enough to play the game.

 

maybe they did not bought their brand new super computer, and they got it as a present or reward or something.

but the humble fellow is actually poor to buy ORIGINAL cds and he only got fake pc cd games for as low as uhm.. in dollar.. 1 dollar exactly. how cool is that. except there is no battle net. =\

so anyway a starcraft 2 cd from this forum is still something.

Anyhow,

Minerals are nice, but that's all. If you buy the game, cool, If you get fifty bucks, that's cool to. But I post purely for the hell of it myself.

Also, I’m waiting for the zerg pets. I hope they exist soon.

yea mc2 is right it is definetly attainable to get the 200,000 minerals with the constructive post rewards and the bonus interest rates for continuing to contribute to the forums. It's a good thing to reduce the max number of minerals per post to encourage more constructive posts. You always have to earn something.

And yes getting a copy of SC2 by these forums would be more like a trophy more than anything else. Hey you can even keep it as a collectable and maybe in 50 years, it'll be worth a lot if this game gets really famous. ^_^

Err... have have I posting back to back? You mean like double posting? Cuz I don't think I've ever done that. I dunno what to do about posting too much though... sorry. The problem occurs when both you and paragon talk. Your banner and his/it's/in transition/her banner lag things all to hell together. That’s what I mean when I say back to back. Individually, it's fine.

 

Oh, ok, I'll try 'n be aware of that next time. Oh, but uhhh... just so ya know ShadowDragon, while Paragon has graciously provided us with a lovely portrait of a pretty lady, I don't think Paragon is actually female. As disappointing as this, B.net has taught me to wary and cautious, and thus, I never allowed myself to daydream about frolicking in the summer breeze with his avatar babe.
