Hey everyone, what are three words that have the sound of a short 'a' in it (such as apple) but sounds exactly another word when that 'a' sound is replaced with a short 'u' sound (like the 'u' in usher)? No names or people or places, abbreviations, acronyms, or articles. And 'um' doesn't count because I personally don't consider 'um' to be a word. Some examples: apple doesn't work, because upple isnt a word. usher doesn't work, because asher isnt a word. arch doesn't work, because urch isn't a word. up doesn't work, because app is an abbreviation. uncle comes close doesn't work, because ankle uses the long 'a' instead of the short 'a'. My friend gave me this riddle, and personally I don't know if there's are words that fit this or if he was just pulling my leg. Knowing the english language though, there has to be something that works.
A lot of those words don't sound exactly alike at all. I can easily tell the difference between most of them. Maybe it is just the dialect of English I speak or whatever.
Haha, no problem. What I did to find it was google what Jasmine said: "batter butter lack luck adder udder"
