    This brings up a very important topic that I feel deserves it's own thread and discussion;

                                         What's YOUR Zombie Plan?

I actually have two plans set as of today, one being a Short-Term Zombie Plan, the other a Long-Term Zombie Plan. If I am given notice via the news of approaching zombies, I will use my Long-Term Zombie Plan. If they simply appear in my town, I will use my Short-Term Zombie Plan.

My Short-Term plan is to hole up in a Grocery Store near where I live. I will grab my friends and as much ammunition as we can carry to go with one of my friends' Hunting Rifle. My weapon of choice is a large-headed Axe, and my other friends have selected their own, among which are a machete and a sledge hammer. All have excellent head-destroying ability, which as we all know, is the only way to kill a REAL zombie.

The grocery store itself should not attract zombies. It has no large windows, so Zombies will not notice us walking inside. It is easily barricaded because of all the machinery in the basement (I worked there some years ago) There is an obvious food supply, and multiple levels with narrow chokepoints as entrances. If the zombies somehow do notice us and somehow do break in, we can simply flee up the catwalks, where the slow, shuffling zombies will be unable to follow us. Even if they can get up, they don't have the coordination to balance on the narrow beams, and as such, will simply fall back down. In the worst case scenario, there is a truck in the back, accessible via the catwalks, that is always filled with gas and has plenty of room for food and other supplies in the back for us to make our getaway. Yes, one of my friends knows how to drive trucks. We will then flee to my Long-Term Zombie Plan location, which is...

An Offshore Oil Rig. Given enough time to prepare, these things are Zombie fortresses. There is simply no way for an uncoordinated Zombie to climb on, and I'm sure that in the case of a zombie outbreak, most workers would flee to their homes to protect their loved ones, so we should be able to find an abandoned on in the record fairly quickly. Once aboard, we needn't worry about zombies anymore, and the only issues become normal survival problems. Food, drink, etc. We will be sure to bring as much as we can, including forms of entertainment, because we just don't know how long it could last. Most oil rigs are also outfitted with emergency boats, so in the case that we do run low on supplies, we would make runs to shore to stock up. Preferably, the rig would be far north. Zombies have no natural body heat, and as such, if we do need to run to shore, there would be fewer than down south, and they would be moving even slower. Most importantly, they would have much greater difficulty travelling in cold water than they would in hot water, so we don't need to worry about being bitten my a zombie lying in a foot of murky water.

This is just a taste of the ridiculous amount of detail that my friends and I have gone into in planning out our Zombie Plans. So how about everyone else? Zombie outbreak... waddyou do?

Bizarro's sounds like a pretty good plan. I may go with him if my plan looks a little too shaky.

My best bet would be to hold an island. A barrier reef or Archapelago would be the best take. Plenty of fish around and you could technically subsist off the land for years without issue. Of course, you would bring non-perishable items.

Anyway, I have a sailboat, and at the first sign of trouble, I'd pack it with as much as possible, take my best friends (5 guys, 3 girls) and head out. If we got lucky and could avoid Hurricanes, etc. We could make the Pacific in no time. Or we could settle for an Atlantic island. I have about 10 islands picked out by name, but they're all uninhabited, and I won't be telling you or you might show up and f*ck up my plan.

I can't see needing to stay more than 6-8 months as once you're a Zombie it doesn't take too long for you to decompose into a crappy mass, etc.... no living cells, so they can't really last....

    Weapons of choice:

    Scimitar

Air Compression Shotgun (Can be manually pumped with water and/or air and loaded with any type of round projectile, including rocks. A number of these could provide an arsenal for years without a supply of gunpowder.)

Colt .45 (Very accurate, insane stopping power)

M-16 (not the ideal weapon, but on single fire it would last, and its an incredibly durable rifle, it also requires no batteries for the sights unlike the CAR-15)

    AK-47(second choice to the M-16)

.300 Tactical Sniper Rifle (gotta be able to scope out the island and/or other areas and take out threats upon approach)

C-4 (lots of this. I assume I would need to swing by an army base at some point or petition for it in case of emergencies. An ounce of this stuff could blow a building apart if placed correctly. It would last a long time and is extremely durable and weather resistant.)

But why would you NEED C4?

Anyhoo, all y'all got good ideas, but you're forgetting something. How does the zombification spread?

I find that a Ring of Fire spell, or perhaps Inferno. Magic is the best way to stop the undead.

I've actually thought of using Chain Mail to cover ourselves, but I thought this might be a little to hard to move.

If you think about it the best thing to have would be an armored vehicle. Not some sh*tty bus like they always have in the movies (Dawn of the Dead) but a real armored vehicle with a lot of horsepower. You could push through any number of Zombies at that point, and weight wouldn't be an issue.

You could pretty much subsist as long as necessary so long as you had fuel... and you could outfit it so that you only used gas when you needed the horsepower. Otherwise you could just pull it with horses (Zombies don't eat horses) :D.

I don't see how humanity could really be wiped out by a disease such as this. It takes 2-3 weeks for a body exposed to the elements to decompose to the point where it starts falling apart. I would think people could go that long without getting bitten.

EDIT: You need C4 to blow up large groups of Zombies. You could also use it for getting at needed supplies that are in guarded areas or are inaccessible, such as military bases. Remember the propane canisters they blew up in Dawn of the Dead? Imagine the same explosion only with a fraction of the explosive and ten times as powerful. C4 is the second most explosive substance on earth relative to its density. The first is (obviously) Plutonium. It even outdoes Hydrogen (Hydrogen bomb), I believe.

Na, it fails against fission, not to mention fusion. And the ounce to kill a building...It would have to be a very structurally unsound building.

Not really. An ounce placed in a structurally key area would blow an entire floor out.

An ounce is quite a bit, my friend. 1/16 of a pound. An ounce of C-4 would be about..... About a 2x2 inch cube, I guess.

It would most definitely blow out all the walls in 2-3 rooms with no aid needed. It could most definitely take out a building, especially if you attached it to say, the elevator shaft.

....Sorry dude, did some fact checking.....One pound of C4 is equal to 1.34 pounds of TNT....Now, though that's nothing to thumb your nose at, it's still not OMG Apocalypse strong.

I'm not saying it's going to bring down a Skyscraper. But if you put this in your house on a wall, the whole structure might come crashing down.

But you're right. I was wrong about the actual force applied by under a pound.

It's still highly explosive compared to its weight. It's also rather cheap to manufacture and is absolutely safe to carry.

Oh, yeah, it's got a punch, and it's great for blowing stuff up. But still, nothing beats hucking a stick of dynamite.
