"Annoying" Units: The WTF Factor ;)

    I was going to name this thread the Douche Factor but thought that was a bit blunt.
    While it is true that all units have their counters and downfall, it is also true that some units are annoying as hell, and, when used obsessively, can cause irritating damage.
    In SC, I would classify the following units as such:
    NOTE: This does not mean they have no counter, or are cheap, or unbalanced. Honestly, tell me you have never been annoyed by a particular unit. it just means they are a bugger to deal with.

    Zerg
    Lurker- Lets face it, a moving, hidden sunken colony. Yes it does half the damage, but we've all been there. No juice on the comsat, overlords all busy, no obs in the area, and somehow your defences have been knocked down, then those suckers just eat your workers for lunch.
    Queen- Spawn Broodling...that's all I have to say. You pay good money for an Ultralisk only to have it burst into two little crabs. Just really inconvenient Then if they parasite your obs or overlords...

    Protoss
    Dark Templar- Every been DT rushed? SCV's just start blowing up you don't know whats going on.
    Dark Archon- A full transport of Marines get mindcontrolled...that's just not fun

    Terran
    Ghost- Nuclear launch detected...
    Science Vessel- Irridate one zergling or one marine and it dicks with your strategy just a little. And EMP, if your the Protoss, even if your not, really makes holes in your forces.
    Siege Tanks- They are just really good.

    I got to thinking, what will replace those units in SC2? A few of them are coming back, changed, but back.
    What do you think are going to be some overused, or "douchy" units in SC2, and how to overcome them?
    Let's brainstorm.

    srry, but this is a bad topic... :no: there are no annoying units, because every unit can be countered if you have skill or at least know how to counter. also, look at your list, each team has its own "annoying" units so this also balances.
    If you get caught by lurkers without a SV, or missle turrets, then you deserve the destruction
    If the player ACTUALLY uses the queen, then you can easily kill her with scourges, muts, devours, corsairs, carriers, wraiths, or even missle turrets
    If you are dark templar rushed, then again, why didnt you build invis defences
    IF the dark archon mind contols your units, make more to kill the archon and they are back
    Ghost, AGAIN WHERE IS YOUR INVIS DEF, and the nuke is late game enough you should kill them first
    Science vessel, there is a reason for the huge count of zerglings to combat radiation, and the emp sucks, but it is still balanced as the SC is killable and has no attack.
    Siege tanks should not even be on this slist as air, massing and melee units can kill the tanks even with the help of vultures'

    Juggernaught131, he's just talking about annoying units, not unbalanced units. Learn how to read...

    Anyways, on the topic again. I think that in SC2 those main annoying units will be:

    The reaper because it can jump up and down cliffs making for quick entrances and escapes.

    The Baneling because Banelings just blow up everywhere and you get nervous and might make a mistake because your probably thinking, "Omg I'm gonna lose my base! Oh noes!"

    Another unit will be the Roach because since they have fast regeneration rates, a single roach might be able to take on a phase cannon unless you move half your army just to kill that one roach.

    Lastly, the Corrputor because it can corrupt any air units. This will get frustrating because you spent like 2k in gas and minerals to get 5 battle cruisers and they get "corrupted" in a matter of seconds.

    I would add the Stalker blink raid. Really powerful according to Jon, and thus really annoying for the other player. :p

    Siege Tanks have even longer range now. They will definitely be annoying to deal with.

    Getting ambushed by burrowed Ultralisks gotta be annoying too... :p

    Ultralisks now have an area-of-effect attack. If they can sneak into an enemy base using Nydus Worms, they can start pwning your workers. Infesters would be just as annoying -- if they take control of your town center, your economy stops and your town center starts pumping out Infested Marines.

    And if that isn't bad enough, suppose you were using a Planetary Fortress for defense? Too bad, it won't shoot the Infested Marines. They belong to the Zerg now (for about 20 seconds).

    Some things I forgot to add were:

    The Phase Prism and Phase Cannons because the Phase Cannons can just move across the map and go infront of the enemy's base and redeploy using the Phase Prism's power field.

    Another one is the Infestors because they can move while burrowed, and then Infest yoru buildings.

    I did read, the topic called annoying units, but his explainations explained his dislike of the possibility if overuse and possible overpower

    anyways... the ANNOYING units to me are the reapers and the ultralisk THe reapers look like they will torture my mineral lines and the ultralisk seems like it will own Non-tauren marines ;D , but serious the splash of the ultralisk will became a major destroyer of my terran armies

    P.S. i appologize, of you still dont see what i mean, about semi flaming the topic :-[

    Man letsspice this topic up. Lets talk about new units that look annoying.

    reaper: (if used right) looks annoying.
    DT: is a classic annoying unit. With the new sc2 detectors seem a little harder to get to.
    Lurker: is the same old lurker
    Roach: this unit just sounds annoying.......
    Baneling: God help us. i think this unit will need an HP adjustment. it should be easyer to kill.
    Banshee: due to the detectors in zerg and terrans being remade i think this unit will be serious troble.
    Stalker: can u think how fast this unit is ganna piss people off? its ganna be sweet, ur like what hit me??
    Nomad: Defence every where!!!!!!!!!
    BC: i red the team liquid report and they made this unit sound like instant rape.
    Ghost: getting snipped is really ganna make u ask, "WHAT HIT ME?????"
    Infector: i'm sorry but taking some ones building when its not even damaged is really LAME!
    corruptor: fighting zerg air is going to be real annoying if this unit stays around.

    Nydus Worm Surprise attack, with whatever comes out of it will be really annoying (for Protoss and terran players, that is, I will love it :))

    Yeah, I never ment I disliked any of the units, or that I felt the game was unbalanced but lets be honest, some units catch you off guard from time to time.
    I was thinking Banelings. Those will come out of left field.
    SC2, I think, will require a lot more strategy in general.
    No worries mate, I should change the title.

    Load a nydus worm with ultras and banelings and pray your opponent doesnt have/was too stupid to get detectors.

    Instant mineral line ownage >:D

    i think the nydus worm in general is annoying, antwhere the zerg can see, it can go!.

    early game (as soon as you get nydus) you can load a crap load of roaches ready fly sumtin (scourge, overlord etc) over their supplies, and BAM goodbye supplies

    The worn still needs to travel there. I don't think it's instant, but I could be wrong.

    Rofl the Roach seems really annoying.
    Ghosts and nuke pissed me off as there would be times where I forget to make detects.
    Nydus Worm will definitly be annoying, as were all drops. I especially hated Reaver drops when I was a newb, I rarely see those now.
    I know for a fact I'll hate Marauders when I'm microing my Zealots and Stalkers. Do Zerg even have a problem with that since Zerglings are super fast?

    It's not speed that makes the difference (Zealots are even faster, when charging).
    It's the fact that Marauders cost about the same as a Zealot.
    Zerglings are too numerous to be effectively countered by Marauders.

    I can't wait to get my hands on some Roaches tho. I hope they are microble. I also really wanna activly annoy people with Reapers so I have the upper hand ;]

    defnetly banelings and burrowed ultralisks. that will be a shock we get randomly ambushed by ultralisk!!!! LAME
