There was a quake? Dang....I think I just don't feel quakes anymore...i've felt one or two, but not more than that. Hehe...when the big one hits, chances are I won't be logging onto the forum the next day, my town is literally built ON TOP of the San Andreas Fault :p

Haha, I know that. I also realized that if the US was ever invaded/nuked/bombed...I would be screwed anyway. I literally live 30 minute drive from Edward's Air Force Base, one of Lockheed's major facilities is in where I live, and if you go about an hour east of where I live, you'll start seeing missle silos everywhere....so chances are in the event of a bombing/invasion...my hometwon is NOT surviving :p

Wow. What kind of Floridian am I? I didn't even know about this storm. Some random Californians made me aware.

It's called the Gainesville effect. No news makes it in or out of this rat hole town. Unless it's sports or related to UF. LOL!

Anyway, I'm in no danger. Not even close. From www.noaa.gov's prediction, it won't even touch Florida hardly.

I'm north central Florida, in Gainesville. Or I'm on the central west coast, just above the indent that is Tampa Bay. The thing couldn't be any further. So unless it decides not to turn, I probably won't even get any rain from it :'(.

Jon: I know how you feel. I alwaysused to be up to date news-wise before I moved up here (to those that don't know, I live in Gainesville too), but since I don't watch TV(South Park excepted), listen to the radio, or read any general news sites, I am totally blind to the goings-on of the world.

That said, I've never really been worried by hurricanes. I used to live in Orlando, and only the worst storms ever did any damage.

    I know.. it's a strange phenomenon.

And even if you do read stuff, you still feel out of the loop becuase you miss so much.

Newspapers are not a good way to find out about events.

Imagine if you found out about 9/11 by reading it. Wouldn't have the same effect.

same here. Pretty much the only enviromental hazard around here is flood, but even the worst ones didn't get beyond my basement.

I am not even sure if natural disasters are possible where I live.

Not near any failt lines. No volcanoes. Too far inland for huricanes. Improper conditions for tornadoes even if we got enough storms. Curent drought means no floods.

Hmm well we can be hit by an asteroid.
