    Or going to be?

Just wondering cuz all of my uncles (4 of them) my grandpa, and three of my cousins have been and it sounds like a valid option especially if you're trying to get money for college.

We have compulsory military service in Poland, but before you go, you are examined and get a category. I got D which means I can only be taken to military in case of war. I prefer it that way, so I don't complain

Here in America we're pretty lucky we don't have to go to the military, but some people are pushing for a draft especially right now for Iraq and Afghanistan so you never know. I think there's only been two wars where the US actually had a draft.

I thought it was only the Civil War and WWII.

Nam had a draft, I knew that. Didn't know about Korea though.

Up here in Canada, we practically never have drafts. If it's a worthy cause, we enlist ourselves. Even in WW2, we never had a draft, but we contributed a HUGE amount of our population to it. And we kicked some ass, might I mention.

Is there a good movie about Canada in WWII? I've always wanted to see one.

You Canadians with your Mounty Heavy Cavalry :)

Yea, I didn't know Korea had a draft, I was pretty sure it didn't. Well...I could see the benefits of compulsory military service like in Poland, Israel, or Egypt, but then again, places like Israel and Egypt kind need the manpower hehe. But hey, our military system works fine with it being voluntary, so I guess whatever works.

I'm plannin on doing a couple of years when I'm older at some point in my life. Probably either the Navy or Marines. Hell...if WW3 breaks out, I wanna be on a Carrier which is probably the safest I can be next to a Nuclear Sub :p

I have not been in the military. Even if the US did have to us the draft again, I doubt I would be drafted simply because I am completely deaf in my right ear. But I prefer it that was.

However, my family has a lot of military members, both active and retired. One of my grandpas was in WWII, a few uncles were in vietnam, my dad is geting ready to retire from the Air Force, and I have many cousins that are currently in the military in different branches.

25B is the Information Technology Specialist. I was unable to get that job because it isn't offered here in my MEPS. But I did get the 25 uniform (Signal Support Systems Specialist) but this career's AIT course is 17 weeks and 3 days long! Bah!

We have drafts in Russia, its terrible really, But luckely I got 2 chances to go to the university and not 1. If you fail, you must go to the army, and it really sucks there.

I'm in Army ROTC and the National Guard, and if you have any questions, let me know. It's a fantastic route to paying for your education, but that's not a very good reason to do it. Trust me, there are other ways of paying for your education. Don't do it for the money because again, trust me, you can make more money elsewhere. I'm a combat engineer, by the way. Hooah.

I'm thinking of joining for a term or two. It seems like a real good experience and what not. But the thing is, I don't know which one to join and I don't know if I could join since I'm not a citizen.

For the US? If so, yea you can, as a matter of fact, it's probably one of the faster routes you can take to becoming a citizen. Of course you're going to have to get a lot more paperwork and jazz done cuz of the good ol' anti-terrorist laws, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem unless you made a couple IED's back in the day. :p

I'm currently 16 and I'm largely considering the Naval Academy, it's actually up there around my top 3 choices. West Point's also a possibility, but the Academy is more desirable so far. We'll see how that goes.

Maybe if you work your way up in the Navy, you might actually be able to say your user name.

    Accelerate your life!

What level are you in ROTC? MS3? It really helps that you have prior service to just skip two levels. I can't wait to become an O1E.
