Ever joke about the day they would no longer accept cash? Well, that day is now.

Apple and AT&T are no longer accepting cash payments for iPhone purchases. Credit, Debit are accepted, while checks are only allowing in select places. Supposedly, this policy helps prevent people from buying the iPhone, unlocking it, then reselling it. It also helps enforce the two iPhone per consumer limit (Supposedly by running the card number against the card holder's name).

You can read a little report type thing here.

Why can you only have 2 iphones?

This doesn't seem like an overly smart move since it doesn't let those without credit cards-many teenagers-to be able to buy them. But maybe they are hoping that this will counter people buying them to sell at higher prices to those teenagers.

Thats stupid, that closes a whole market of people who dont like to pay with credit/debit cards. Some people just dont trust them.

Exactly....Plus I don't think it's legal really. Like...Not illegal, but not really in good standing.

God forbid that someone breaks the monopoly these retards have on the iPhone...

In my opinion claiming something is only compatible with one system should be illegal. It's monopolizing a product.

Not if they force you to use another product.

Sell the phone. It's features are its features, don't try to monopolize the market with a separate linkage by demanding they use a certain company.

Also, the phone is released with a number of features locked because they don't want people to have them. Explain to me why that is?

Fenix, it definitely seems like banning cash payment should be illegal . It seems to be further degrading our currency.

BTW, just so everyone knows, you should ALWAYS do your research before purchasing a product like this.

I've heard there's a NOKIA version that is 10x better and works on any network. It's also $100 cheaper from what I've heard. Full keypad as well. :D

Interesting find Jon. Its interesting that I've never heard of Nokia, but maybe that's because its in Finland.

After a little research, I found that Nokia is the largest manufacturer of phones in the world and controls about 39% of the world's share in mobile phones. It's also the largest company in finland.

Here's a picture of the Nokia N93, a multimedia phone developed in 2006, I think it looks cool.

This is the Nokia phone that I've been told about. From what I've heard as far as web browsing goes, it rocks. Full qwerty keyboard that you can actually touch.

    http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=2719

There's also supposedly a new Nokia that is pretty much the iPod but open to any network and better scheduled for release this spring sometime...

And then there's the N95 which a lot of users claim is superior to the iPhone because of issues with glitches, etc.

    Personally, I'm a Motorola man. :D

I'm with Fenix. I bought an MP3 player from them about 5 years ago now, and it still works. It has outlived 5 ipods that I know of, which speaks well for them but not for Apple.

But hey, join the fad. Buy inferior merchandise.

The best mp3/mp4 player I ever bought is the iRiver H300. It's not Apple. It's made by iRiver.

I bought it at the same time the original iPod came out for $50 less. 2 years later it came out with a mod (it has a color screen) that let it play movies. Now I watch movies all the time on it. It's 5 years old. BOO YEAH.
