Call me a nerd, but I've always been into ancient arms and armours. I don't have much of a collection because I suffer from a serious case of lightwallet, but here's the few things I do have... along with me in various forms of retardation.

Only "training" I've officially had is some with rapier. The instructor refused to believe I'd never taken martial arts for the few months I went to the club. So yeah, no real training - but I'm pretty good with longsword, katana, rapier and bow. I'd like to get some experience with a tulwar style blade too... haven't had the chance yet however.

Good stuff, weapons used when fighting took more skill than a two month fitness camp. Although I respect warefare these days it just seems so impersonal, love ancient weapons, has an aesthetic value to me. I have a Chinese spear and bronze sword that I may post. Keep collecting.

    Exactly!

I think humankind as a whole lost something when it became commonly possible to take life by clicking a trigger or pushing a button.

Not to mention ancient weapons have value as devices for perfecting oneself in mind and body.... while modern weapons are just about death.

I have a variety of knives (Like 30), and can throw them quite well (If I do say so myself)....I wanna buy some katanas or nagitas, but they're bloody expensive, AND you have to have a permit to own a nagita in my state.

where do you live if you don't mind my asking? is that one of those outdated laws that never got taken off the books, or your state actually recognizes the potential danger in one of those?

and yeah... genuine katana is 10,000 and up... sigh, expensive hobbies

Utah. It's actually quite stupid, cause I doubt there's more than a thousand people in the whole state who actually know what a Nagita is....Damn law screwed up my Halloween costume a few years ago cause I had a fake one and they thought it was real.

Lol did you bring it to school? Way to go!

The closest I got to being taken for having a weapon was wearing laser tag vests in my neighborhood. Apparently a very outlandish gun that is purple and red looks a lot like a pistol to hyped up backwater cops.

@ Nate , I will treasure these pictures until my old age. They make me laugh.

Also, I'll be submitting these to the Department of Homeland Security. :D

Na, that was three years ago ;)

Funnily enough, both of them were from Wheel of Time

I was an Aiel, and got in trouble cause I had spears, and then with the Nagita, I was Mat. Gonna be an Asha'man this year if the Village people idea falls through.

pffft - speed and agility are the only armor I need!

especially the speed part... that stuff can let you take shotgun shots at close range and not feel it... jumping off 20 floor buildings an shiz

    ----------
lol @ Fenix... I'm sure those conversations with the cops were priceless - asha'man? why not go for seanchan? =] You could ride a komodo dragon from door to door!

and I'm glad ppl can enjoy my bouts of doofusness almost as much as I do

I have a cousin who is into the whole reenacting thing. He has alot of weapons and 19th century uniforms. If I remeber correctly, he has a civil war era saber, a springfield carbine and I think the model is 1861 but I don't remeber, a navy colt revolve, again I forget what year, and a variety of uniforms so he can switch from 1812 war era up to civil war era and from infantry to artillery to cavalry.

I envy his collection but not all the money that he as sunk into it.

Seanchan are supposed to be all sorts of skin tones tho, it's a huge continent - lots of different ethnic groups absorbed into it... but yeah - Asha'man are pretty much the best... you including the longsword? or are you one of Taim's group? dirty M'hael follower *grrr*

Of course you need a permit to carry real knifes in public, do you have idea how dangerous it would be if just any one could just walk around holding a knife in their hands?

Wait... the police actually came up to you on the street and said "Give me your sword"?

That's gotta be the greatest cop line ever. You even told them it was fake and they took it anyway?

    That's when you say:

    "It's fake! See! *stabs cop*"

Nagita Jon, Nagita. Like a spear with a sword.

But yeah, they're like 'Is that a weapon? Do you have a permit?' And I'm like, 'No, it's a piece of spray painted cardboard on a shovel handle painted black' and they're like 'We're gonna have to take that. Please hand it over without a fuss' Then they wanted to see my knife permit.
