They blocked img.4chan.org, the picture server powering /b/. Now, I'm not a huge fan of /b/, but ATT just hit the biggest hornet's nest on the internet with a mop. /b/'s mostly a bunch of disorganized idiots, but given enough of a prompt, they can really FSU. /B/ will most definatly win, they have no right in censoring the content of the website, even if it will cause emotional scarring.
The most not work safe site on the internet. If your mother saw you browsing it, you'd be grounded for a month.
okay here is you describe /b/ to a blind man, get a lump of **** with razor blades in it and shove it into his hands. Its pretty much like that.
i think some of the encyclopedia dramatica pages are worse. but yeah, /b/ has the legal highground here
Kind of scary if AT&T gets away with this.. If they win this fight then they can censor what ever they like.... If their CEO happens to have stock in EA and wants Acitivision blizzard stock to fall... He just makes the call to censor WoW and battle.net.... If a CEO wants Napster to do better in sales then itunes.... He just censors it...... If he wants foxnews.com to have better sales then cnn.com... he just censors it.... This is a very dangerous path our nation is about to walk down....
Erm what? Can somebody tell me what's going on? Is the /b/ section in http://www.4chan.org/blocked ? 1. What's the big deal? Never heard of the site anyways 2. It's just some images.. why did they block them off? 3. WTF, tell me what's going on? Why only the B server? " If your mother saw you browsing it, you'd be grounded for a month." Orly? I didn't find anything special except a few pictures of naked women. Typical for the internets I must add. Now as far as images go, there's a site I got directed to once. I won't go into detail but I'll give you these keywords: anime, violent, blood & gore, rape.
Where do you think those Encyclopedia Dramatica pages come from? Lobster: yes, there is constant nudity. But there is also stuff that cannot be unseen once you see it. Stuff that you wish you could unsee, but can't. on /b/? Yeah, you'll definitely run into anime, violent, blood, gore, rape. And more.
AT&T has replied with a statement claiming that the block was put in place after an AT&T customer was affected by a DoS attack originating from IP addresses connected to img.4chan.org and was merely done to "prevent this attack from disrupting service for the impacted AT&T customer, and... our other customers." Moot has also said that this was not a sinister act of censorship....pity, i wanted to see some 4chan shenanigans through open internet warfare =(
