No idea if you guys get any news regarding whos leading us but we had our election last night.

Result will probally be a hung parliment (No one had a majority, first time for a century)
    73 Conservatives
    72 Labor
    1 Greens
    4 Independent

This result is really scary because the conservatives played a wild card of a climate skeptical, crazy catholic and i'm scared the independents will choose to give him the balance of power. At least the greens (enviromental party) now holds power of our upper house and got their first lower house seat.

Election was terrible on both sided no one really discussed important policy either -.-

    SOMEONE HOLD ME

Australian politics baffle me. Even though I read fair amount on Australian political events and affairs all that hear about is:
    - Sex party
    - Banning small breasts
    - Banning computer games
    - Banning all sorts of crazy ****
    - Someone in the government being an atheist and that somehow makes it to the headlines everywhere and for several days
    - Somebody wanting to get Australia out of common wealth once the current British queen dies
    - The government being xenophobic and discriminatory
Really can I get ANY real information on what the hell is going down there in the upside down land?

    Explains the situation better.

Labor got rid of our PM a few months ago and travelled to the center right with the conservatives on most issues...

Yes i did vote 1 the sex party for the upper house, greens would've gotten my prefs

    One big parody

I think you can safely assume that Australia politics is one big parody of western democracy.

Kind of depressing since we've had one of the most stable systems for the last few decades up until now...oh well time for our 2 party system to end.

    THREE WEEKS LATER

1 hour until the last 2 independents say who they'll support...its 74-74 and on a 2 party prefered basis currently its 49.99 to 50.01% (though 2pp doesn't count that gives some idea of how close it is).

    Just like a movie...

Edit: Labor wins both of the remaining independents go Labor :) 2PP is now at 50% to 50%...they take so long to finish counting Oo
