Well this certainly appears to be the biggest news for the month. And this is most definitely a sure sign that StarCraft 2 beta is on the immediate horizon. This is a large, sophisticated, and resolute update to StarCraft2.com. I'm reasonably confident we will see an announcement within the next two weeks. If not tomorrow then in some other form. Blizzard has launched a Battle.net Preview page complete with a video interview describing the new features expected in Battle.net 2.0 as well as some of their relevance to StarCraft II and the new matchmaking system. With the new Battle.net, we’re also introducing an entirely new concept called Real ID. With the Real ID feature, you are able to send invites and form friendships on Battle.net with your real-life friends and family. Real ID friends are mutual, which means that both sides need to agree to the friend request. Forming Real ID friends comes with its benefits. You will see your Real ID friends by their real name, along with any character they are logged in as. You will also be able to get rich presence information about what they are doing, send broadcast messages, and communicate cross-game between StarCraft II, Battle.net, and World of Warcraft. This update is definitely significant. Make sure you check it out! The part that i liked most during the video was that the system learns how good you are, and will pair you with people close to your playing lvl. Means that I won't have to worry as much about getting randomly paired with someone whose playing lvl is so much better than mine. Will this new battlenet be accessible through older games like SC1? Or will only new games and WoW be able to use it?
i like the system that tells how good you are too, i mean for some beginers it would be comfort to them to fight beginers, but deep inside i want to compete to people better than me so that i can improve my strategies much more
So LAN is officially gone? lol Its cool how all your achievement wont be lost if you re-install sc2 on another computer.
did anyone noticed the date that the video was made was very recent. said January 22nd it was also the screen that said welcome to sc2 beta. so i can only assume beta is very very close! just wish i had a beta key i swear i wonder if i harras them enough they would give me one
I has happy now when it seems like the beta finally seems to be close! Altough I pretty much took these features for granted <.<
Wow to hear about all the features is one thing, to see it and be talked about it another thing entirely. To people who think Battle.net 2.0 is a waste of time, think again, this is making the game so much better. Love how custom maps are able to be categorized as Hero Defense, Tower Defense. Would it mean we can search for maps and games using specific keywords? That would be awesome. In addition around 4:29, there is a custom map called galactic arachnids. Sounds awesome and interesting. Hopefully included in the beta and is quirky like the rest of Blizzard made custom maps. Annoyed though that they didn't really talk about how they were going to replace lan though, thought that addressing such an issue would be their priorities. Also Blizzard enough with the beta teasing, how are u tantalize us with the loading screen. Do want T.T Thanks Jshep89 for this update.
also did anyone notice the map list? one map was called sc2 grand prix!!!! and was categorized as a racing game!!!
The old Battlenet interface is so popular and so great because all players can socialize, can talk about game, about matches, can play anyone against anyone, just because the old bnet has CHAT CHANNELS! Without chat channels where all can join(not only invited players) bnet will not succeed.
