Think about it, we're doing their dirty work for them. Basically it's free labour. We're testing their god damn game, they should either pay us or f off.

Say no to beta. Sure it's fun and all, but then would you do the voice acting and art etc. if you could for SC2 for free as well?

actually i would be far gladder to do those two then beta testing. It would look really good on my CV, and at my age i can't work anyways.

Also, that's a stupid idea. Why pay them when they'd do it for free?

I could pay to participate in the beta testing.

For a moment i read the thread title as Blizzard should be paid for the beta. (Rubs eyes)
Anyway, just no at that idea. Either ur bored or trolling but playing sc2 beta is not labour. That's WOW (sry to those wow fans) Hate to think what you think of what we think labour means....
Also i would love to do the voice acting or the art if I had them skillz, most people would be honored by the opportunity to do so.
I suggest this thread to be moved or locked.

What is there to know, that isn't clearly already
Speaking to the wrong crowd I believe...

Is it...can I say that's a tad Ironic to wait for so long, crying, moaning, and even praying for the day to play the game...even if it's not yet the finished product only to then state, "Meh, I feel you should pay me now to play/test this game!" when it's so close?

On another quick note, you're helping them make the final product better...in a less then perfect example...if you could spend a bit of time helping the cook with making dessert to make it taste better...wouldn't you gladly offer said assistance being the ending result is a much more delicious treat? o_O

Granted, as others have put it...plenty would play it for free, thus voiding out those asking for payment to play a game they have supposedly been eagerly awaiting years to get their hands on.

To me this is space junk.
And to the original poster. You know you are not getting paid for your services as a beta tester. You know it before you opted in for beta. So live with it or don't beta. You have the power. So agree and beta or disagree and not beta.

They'll ship tha game and make money from it anyway, with a beta or without one.
Allowing us to play the beta just helps them to make the game better when it'll be released.
So no, Blizzard shouldn't pay us for beta, and we should be happy that Blizzard allows us to play the game first and gives us a chance to make it better. ;)

Why should Blizzard pay for beta testers when they obviously have a large population who would be willing to do it for free? We should be honored that Blizzard is so willing to let normal players participate in the beta since most companies prefer to hire a small beta force to do all the testing.

Sure it would be nice to be payed for the testing, but they have enough participants without it, so there's no incentive to do so.

I'm sure kids would love to work for santa claus in his workshop for free as well.

Well that's illegal child labour. Especially with a tight schedule like Santa's.

That depends, many countries don't have formal child labour laws. It's mostly developed countries that have laws setting minimum child labour laws...at least to my knowledge.

For ex. orphans in Chinese orphanages usually start working to keep their stay around 6-8 years of age.

I thought the northpole had no official country presiding over any part, so no laws either.

Let's not forget that the North Pole isn't even a land mass. Man, I'm gonna have a good laugh at the first country to claim a patch of ice in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.
