While WestWood was great at it's time, over the course it started to falter in my opinion. Blizzard is keeping up with quality games to this day.
Westwood faltered because they allowed themselves to be bought by someone who doesnt care about gamers
Yeah, you have to be really tough inside EA if you want to make a complete, quality product. Thankfully, while EA "owns" Will Wright and Maxis... the fact that he is basically a gaming deity means that they know better than to think they can hold him down... which is why I am not at all worried about the fact that Spore is an EA game.
Westwood has churned out more than it's far share of poop. Their glory days were over well before being bought out by Executive Aboritio...I mean Electronic Arts. How f'ing ironic is it that a company surviving off of John Madden and small studios (that are eaten and excreted of course) has the word arts in their name. People worry about EA putting intrusive anti piracy programing in their PC games. Penny-arcade.com mentioned it a little while ago in reference to Spore. But then again; they also said they didn't really care that much about Spore or understand why other people did.
While I have enjoyed some of Westwood's games (Red Alert 2 for example), Blizzard, in my mind make better games.
So, how many C&C games are there?... like 40, maybe 50? OK... a slight exaduration. But the only ones I can recall are RA2, Generals and Tiberium wars. There not my cup o' tea. On the other hand I've grown up with Blizzard, from Warcraft 2 to Warcraft 3 and most importantly Starcraft. There just like parents to me. I know what I'd say is better. So Yes Totaly, Blizzard For ever!
