Alta airport in finnmark county Norway, has been closed, due to a bomb that was found at the end of the runway. It was found by people making the runway longer, and it was dropped during WW2 source
I wonder what side it was dropped by, as both sides had offensives that occured there. Would be interesting to know how rare that bomb is and how much it's worth by historical standards.
Its a very good thing it didn't go off. A lot of explosives left behind during WW2 are still active and very deadly to this day.
Problem for Norway is, it has such a large mass compared to it's population, and there is a lot of terrain that people don't normally go, cause of all the mountains, fjords, ect ect. When I seen this, I got scared as hell. Thought maybe for some reason Norway was targeted for a terrorist act, and that maybe Maddie might be made to fight somewhere. This is not the case.
I doubt terrorists would try and bomb Norway. They seem to be pointing all of their frustration further west.
Closer to 70 now though. Imagine if they didn't find it though. A plane would have been destroyed, with people in it. Causing a panic, where no panic is due at all. Very good thing it was found.
actually it would have exploded from the construction works years before any plane even plans to land
