    Notice- Serious thread! (Kinda)
    -
So, I am in the age where it is time to choose a profession. Even tho this question has been following me ever since I started thinking, I was always unsure.

Now, currently my world view and ideology have come to a level when I feel they are no longer an ideology, but the correct way of seeing life. Now, I am not bragging that I have reached the nirvana of world affairs,
but my political motivation is total (as seen by my frequent hammers&sickles). I have always loved politics. Not to brag I can also humbly say I am power hungry- and I usually get what I want ;). I have always wanted to become a political leader, but I have always thought of it as unrealistic considering I have little or no knowledge of what I have to do to get into the parlament and such. So now I am thinking of joining a communist party. I am dead serious. Of course there is some trouble with that. Which country? How can I be sure the politics of the party suits me? What will I do to earn money? Would my parents/friends/partner actually like that?

I know its my choice and all, but how would the world (you guys) look at this? Am I insane?

You need to consider your attachment to your parents and friends and see whether their support and presence or your fulfilment of life is more important.
Your want for domination could be sensed in your strict moderating behaviour and bragging about powers, so I think over time you'll choose your own life and to achieve the most, even if it means losing your loved ones' support.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't like to be in your position. IIRC you're 14... and you're considering immersing yourself in politics. That's just weird, although it might be down to the differences in our cultures and our countries' state of affairs. Either way, I wish you the best of luck because you'll need it.

    Are politics that bad?

I wasnt very strict, I just moderated everything very carefully, and later I became very liberal, because there was nothing more to moderate :). But I didnt do it for myself, I did it to improve space junk, and I think I made it a better place.

Hm, Russian politics have nothing to do with me, I am anti-patriotic, but I have been living and have visited so many countres already, it definitely shaped my world view a lot.

Well ursa, if you like your job, then its good. As I have said, I have always liked politics and always wanted to get involved in them...

    hmm, dead serious huh?
don't go to china right now. they seem like a stable communistic government, but it's slowly turning mroe democratic. Trust me, I don't know a lot on polotics but I jsut spent weeks learnign about China and I know what's going on. Be careful, China seems afer, but I doubt you could get a higher position without speaking mandarin or beign ethnically Han (and the fact you're a foreigner altogether).

Cuba also looks to be teetering. Since Fidel dies his brother Roulle seems to be changing it a bit. Nothing drastic, he's still like his brother in many aspects.

there aren't too many options, espeically considering communism doesn't work =/
i respect anyone who wants to make somethgin of themselves, and for you to say what you want earns my unyeilding respect. I believe in the goal of communism. Everyone being equal, what a world that would be. But look at people, we're greedy. I know you know more than me, my friend, but the goal of communism is equality. you're stuck on the second step, which isn't true communism. Not that i blame you, being a elader is awesome. reachign the third step means people governing themselves and doing what's best without a leader and i doubt you'd like beign like that if you're power hungry.

there aren't too many choices, but if i were you, i'd be careful. communism has a very VERY bad reputation.

Please Kurai, no fundamenetal critique of communism here, I can really give you a rant about how it really does work and worked for many many years, how real communism has never existed, how the fact that ussr dissolved doesnt mean c. doesnt work and how it has nothing to do with it not working ETC...But not here. If you want to hear it all, tell me, but not here not now, it will take a few hours.

I can see that China has become really greedy, especially the government, and is really capitalist. If they are real communists, nationality shouldnt matter, but as I said, its not really the best place for a career...

The swedish left party would be my best choice. I am not a swede, yet thats my favourite country, the only country I want to live in.

I guess my biggest challange is the fact that communism has been so demonized and misunderstood...

*nods* sorry GM k, i didn't mean to start something, i'm just trying to understand it, here.

The thing is, you gotta do what you have to believe, and if you strongly believe this go for it. Friends and family may not agree, because I'd be kinda iffy if my brother was into communism, but i'd want to support his dreams. country wise it's iffy as well since communism is on sharp decline. Also, money's a big issue and gettign chosen for a job on such is an even greater issue.

so my questions really is, what are you planning to do and then maybe i can see the bigger picture? I'm sorry if it seems like i'm totally questioning in all this but i'm actually very curious.

If you believe that's what you really want - go for it. Maybe you could somehow start from showing people communism how it should be perceived?
Real friends, even if they don't like it should support you, or at least accept your choice

Dangerous...Well, I am willing to fight to the death for the good of humanity if that's what you mean... I dont think communists are hated, I think everyone whom I met who said they were really communist were always incredibly nice, clear-thinking people...But I havent met that much of them :-/

Too much...Well, I really dont know what I will have to do. Attend meetings, make speeches...Do people pay for that...dont think so. But I think I will try to get MBA and then get involved into party business in free time. It might get too much work tho, you are right.

Yeah, I know. But it all your government with its propaganda.

This propaganda is extraordinary. They managed to turn the vision of a utopian harmonious world into something terrible. I dont know which is worse, the fact that they did it, or that the public is so ignorant...
But basically, as I think, everyone is a communist. Its impossible not to be a communist if you know it. The only people who are not communists are those government and business people who want to have fascist absolute control, money power. But thats not you and me. Thats a lame 0.000001% of people. And you are speaking of democracy?! If you think communism is dreamy, so is democracy because they walk hand in hand.

I would love to tell you more, if you want to listen.

Stop giving a bad name to people who want absolute power/ money control through business...i'm trying to be one of those people when i graduate =P. I would suggest trying to get into business since relativelly small political parties don't really have any power if the major political parties are both against them also as marx states communism would only really work if all nations moved towards it. Being clampled down in the politics of one nation wouldn't help much. You could even say democracy in capitalism is just a ploy to jam all the communists into useless parties with no power.

But through business you could actually gain a say in what happens in the country (Or indeed the world stage) your in since money has always given our democratic systems a healthy push in the "right" direction (Lousy pun) so why not reverse the process xD.

China isn't communist anyway its just a dictatorship with a powerless parliment and soon Putin will be pulling the strings for Russia to go back the same way >>.

Well...if you wanna join a Communist party then you're kinda limited. Russia's Communist party is still pretty up there, but Medvedev/Putin's United Russia is still gonna be the big dog for a while.

Socialist parties are still up there though, particularly in Eastern Europe, however, France's Socialist Party is the main left wing party. The British's Labour Party is also a moderate Socialist Party itself.

And politics dude...depends on how you like it. It can get pretty dirty. More than likely you'll have to "bend" a moral or two, but hey dude, not too early to think of a future. I myself am 16 and I am near set on what I wanna do

GM_K i think your forgetting something. Im not totaly sure so if im wrong someone tell me but im pretty sure that in communist countrys your job is given to you when your born. you wouldnt have a good job because there government would screw you over just like they do with the 99% of people in there countrys.
But if your so certain that comunism works although it has never worked and never will then i would go to cuba if i were you. i hear the scenery is nice there and all the legal drugs you can offord (which isnt very much). if this sounds like im yelling at you or something then im sorry because i mean no disrespect.
