just a cool idea for a thread.

I am trying to think up names for the 3 american dreadnoughts in the SA universe.

Thusfar i have 'the burden of atlas'.

So i need you people to think up other names.

I want at least 1 of the dreadnoughts named after something from north-american native-american legends.

Personally, "The Burden of Atlas", as a name, stretches my suspension of disbelief to the breaking point. Unless it is run by a dictator, you're not going to get a name like that for a vessel built by a nation-sized organization.

Americans usually name their biggest ships after presidents. I like any name better then such an ultimate display of their oversized egos.

How about Enterprise? Is that taken yet? (I suck at naming things. :p)

I'm assuming for this list that 'dreadnought' refers to the biggest warships of the fleet.

    Classic Presidents is good.

    I would go with...

    Life
    Liberty
    Pursuit of Happiness
(it's part of the US's Declaration of Independence, a vital part of American history)

You might also do big cities in the US, eg USD Los Angeles.

Or, do something not relating to America really, such as USD Dominance, or USD Eminence (which is just an awesome word altogether....I can't find a Dutch translation, but it basically means a position of power and fame)

As far as Native American stuff go...There's two that really stand out, but I don't know if they'd make good names...the Wendigo and the Skinwalker. Wendigo would be ok I supposed, but Skinwalker would be perfect for a stealth style ship.

Oh, yeah. USD stands of United States Dreadnought.

EDIT: They're not really imposing or anything, but the Piute have awesome place names, like Mukuntuweap or Hovenweep
