Do you think it will happen? Or will the people there be to afraid to vote. Who would you vote for in this election if given the opportunity, and why?

if they got a new election, the people who want the current guy in charge will just protest violently until there is a reelection, and then the guys who want the other guy in charge will start violent protests

or we'll get it in a couple of years when the other guy decides to cheat during the elections

One of the candidates seem to have a major backing of the nations population.

CMon Higgs I was hoping you would give like two paragraphs or something. Fine, I guess I set the powder I'll light the fuse.

Okay, So I'm hoping for Hamid Karzai because he seems to be the easiest for the US to influence.

There is not much to comment on. I'd hope that most of us here would go for the most secular/pro-western candidate there is.

I just hope that USA will leave all of them alone. Poor people have it already bad without USA controlling them.

As mr. bosom said, not much to expect from a country that believes they're on a jihad against the world. Of course I'm blatantly generalizing, but the groups that control the country do think like that, and that's what matters.

tbh, the people who live there want us there...it's the people from other countries coming in and looking to control it who are the ones who are angry for us being there. because God knows the middle east countries are looking to control one another and such. All the attacks and inequality and feuding there and whatnot.

but anyway, i hope people vote, and i'd like us to get out of their and them be able to take care of their own country.

People will vote...but the vast majority will be counterfeited ghost votes. Though i'm sure whoever the Americans back will still have the most money to buy enough votes so on a national level it shouldn't matter.

There is no single country in world that wants USA government to come to them. Whole Africa, South America, Europe, Asia... hate your government. Major part of Arabic world is not in Jihad and when you think of Middle East you only think of crazy madman with dynamite on him. Why do they join jihad you ask? Well because they don't want America. Just ask them who destroyed more: Terroris in hiding or Ammerica with frequent bombardments (It was sad to see their sitys...most of them live in tents now...)

Your post makes me laugh veljkom! There is no single country in the world that wants a US type of government system? This must be true! /sarc There is no perfect government system and even if ours is adopted, it is changed to meet the needs of the country adopting it.

Say what?! Jihad literally translates as "struggle." Strictly speaking, jihad does not mean "holy war" as Muslim apologists often point out. However, the question remains as to what sort of "struggle" is meant: an inner, spiritual struggle against the passions, or an outward, physical struggle. Many extremists choose the physical layer. I honestly think that If the Middle East would come out of it's backwardness and instead focus on development, then and only then would we see true progress.

They do not just join jihad because of America but because the West is seen as nonbelievers, it has been mentioned in the Quran as "The verse of the Sword" to wage war with non-Muslim peoples and it has been apparent throughout history. Now it is true that there are differences of opinion amongst the different schools of Islamic thought. BUT while there are differences in these schools there are also common elements. One common element is for the Ummah to conquer and subdue the world under Sharia Law.

Who likes to use innocent civilians and neighborhoods as bullet shields and places of hiding? That's right! The terrorists. Do you remember when the whole world was mad at Israel for supposedly bombing neighborhoods and schools? There was evidence presented by third parties confirming that Hamas used the UN schools and other such buildings to launch attacks. Who likes to indiscriminately target population centers? WHO? That's right! You guessed it! I cannot believe you have fallen victim to these "terrorist sympathizing" articles claiming precision guided munitions killed hundreds of civilians. Most of these claims are staged just like in Paliwood. It is unfortunate that a number of civilians are killed but hey... guess what? Their place was being used as safe haven for terrorists!

What are you referring to with the tents line? Are you talking about Pakistan? Because if you have no clue, villagers were attacked by Al-Qaeda and it's offshoot groups mercilessly, leading thousands to take refuge in tent cities. Also the last time I checked, a lot of Iraq has pretty much been rebuilt or is in the process of being rebuilt.

Now back to the topic, I believe Hamid Karzai has a chance again however I disagree with some of his policies such as the "no sex, no food" law that brutally oppresses women even more so than they already experience. I did watch Karzai place his ballot first and I hope many Afghans will do the same. Ignore the threats and continue with your path to freedom!

I am wrong about Jihad. And I meant USA influence not to have their government. And also I don't like terrorist or nor do I want to be one since they are only making things worst. The innocent people suffer from both sides. Better leave Afghanistan matter to their own hands and be happy for them. But if you still think that people like American government you are mistaken.

I wonder what would the outcome be if that was to happen.

Oh wait, it did and it ended up with the entire NATO storming into the country. You can't just kill a few insurgents and pull out in hopes than within few years the country will be modern, western democracy. There is so needed infrastructure (political and other) to be build up first.

I never mentioned USA in my posts. Not once. My objection still stands.
Either quit the pointless 'anti-american' bickering or present your case; Why should NATO pull out of Afghanistan and what is your solution to Taliban taking over again? Unless you're fine with Taliban or pro-Taliban faction taking over.
