Intelligent/emotional robots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_O6sTaS0nc Interactive and emotional robots may be much closer to reality than most people think they are. Thay already have robots act in plays and comunicate with eachother using pattern created from how they are handled. Ofc, leave it to hackers to mess with Roomba, adding personality to it. What do you guys/gals think about humans making robots as intelligent as people and have emotions? I think its interesting, but not sure if it would have positive affects the population. Having robots could cause laziness and isolationism (as if WoW wasn't bad enough). As long as nothing like the Matrix or I Robot happens, I am fine with robots. Yet, if it does happen, we are all doomed.
the robots don't have intelligence or emotions or any of that stuff. Besides the kid putting the mexican wrestler mask on his Roomba, i didn't see emotion anywhere. It's all just very complex input and output.
I don't want robots to acquire consciousness. Other than that, I'm fine. If we ever get robots I'm just going to use them as slaves.
Those are artificial emotions then as we the operator have to state for example: Death = sadness Emotions vary greatly from person to person so can you really call these 'emotions' they're developing for AI real? But when robots take care of our laborious duties, what well the huge percentage of us do?
Exactly. they are programmed to act in a certain way. If someone says "Hello!" to the robot in a cheery tone, then they're programmed to do the same thing back at that person, and have their happy "turned on". What would make them concious would be the ability for emotions to change base on the same input. For example, that same person could say "Hello!" and the robot could respond "You're way too cheery! it annoys me!"
I voted no. My question would be why would we give robots / AI's emotions? Is to escape having to deal with the emotions and feelings of the people all around us? Robot emotions wouldn't make them better robots so why would we develop them that way?
Human-like intelligence? I say no, humans are already very lazy, and no-one wants to have a nightmare apocalypse scenario of robot revolt. Emotional robots could be quite good and useful tho, for psychological reasons.
