The game is called Achron, and it is insane. Time travel as a functioning game mechanic. Not a gimmick, but something that looks a lot like what we would expect the Real Thing to be like. I've wondered about how it might be done, and never found a way to pull it off- but these guys did. You'll be able to do stuff like prepare for a battle after you've lost it, in order to win it, send units into the past to help themselves fight. You can do stuff like play things that have already happened in slow motion, paused, or even at double time. When I first opened the first video, I thought, "too bad this can't be done with multiplayer" ... but I was wrong, it has multiplayer. Take a look at the demo videos on Youtube. Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Video 4 -not many games can claim to have to occasionally deal with the Grandfather Paradox. Video 5 From the game's FAQ There's even a feature called the "chronobomb" that will knock enemy buildings into the future. "See-ya later!"
Looks extremely complicated. i do not know how i can play this game but i my head is feeling a little stressed from watching one video.........
Indeed, people who are able to put a video of their game in a very early stage is a brave move (towards people who are into graphics)
Hopefully, this feature doesn't turn the game into a time jumping cat and mouse game. I think that would be a possibility if it had 2 human players against each other.
That's what the chronoenergy (or what it's called) is for. Also I think there's a limit to how far back in time you can go. Looks interesting
I realize that but there is still quite a possibility for that problem just because of the mechanic. For example what happens when 2 human players get in a battle and start losing units? They will keep jumping around in time to re-do and counter their opponents movements in time until one side gets an advantage. Then once everyone is out or nearly out of the chrono energy they can just retreat or fall back in a defensive postion in the present until it recharges and then repeat.
I think ordering troops in past will cost too much for that to be an issue, especially since the farther back they go the more expensive it gets. Either way, the game revolves around time travelling, it's very unlikely for the creators to overlook something like that.
You can't fall back into a defensive position in the present when the base gets destroyed in the past- at least, not for long.
Do you seek knowledge of time travel? This looks pretty nice. I would be happy if I could play that sometime in the future. Or past.
but what if I build a unit, go back in time with that unit, wait for it to be spawned again, repeat and have a huge army at the start of the game when my opponent doesnt havbe more than a main building? easy win
Problems with that: -It would take forever -your opponent could attack you at any point during the process and keep you from doing it -your opponent could send units back to defend themselves, just as you sent them back to attack, before the timewave propagates and locks in the changes you are attempting to cause. -the big one: it would take increasingly large amounts of chrono energy to move the units back in time -the really big one: the timeline only goes back a finite amount of time (8 minutes) ...so this particular strategy is only even possible in the first eight minutes of gameplay.
okay this game sounds wicked But wouldnt pro's just continually collect this proto-energy in case the opponents attacks the past? So would pro matches include less timetravel?
The idea would be to spend it in such a way so as to do the most damage possible, without leaving yourself vulnerable. It's really like any other resource.
