Hello all! I'm excited to join this forum and learn a lot from you guys. I am very familiar with RTS as Age of Empires 2 was one of my favorite games, but I am struggling to get some things straight after several hours of play. Below are my questions (These questions may be stupid but I tried to use search function and could not find it). 1) Hot Keys! - I tried to change few of the hot keys, but I am not able to change them at all. For example, when I try to look for idle workers, it tells me to press "F1". However, it goes back to computer's window page when I press then instead of finding me an idle worker. - So regarding hot keys, what are some of the most widely used hot keys (for buildings, units, etc), and how do I change them? 2) Best way to learn - I went through the tutorial, went through the basic training, and now I began to fight 1v1 against A.I., where I learned the most. However, I feel like I am learning very slowly as I want to fight against actual people very very soon. What did some of you do to learn very quickly and adapt to different strategies? 3) Accounts - I am extremely competitive and I would like to maintain the best record possible once I start playing online. Should I just play in those "practice leagues" that doesn't affect my record, or are there other leagues that doesn't affect the record? - Also, is it just one account per game ( as in I purchased one starcraft, so I get one account), or can I make multiple accounts? Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it! Sorry in advance, as I am sure that these are repetive questions.
Hi, if you want to learn starcraft 2, here is how i practice and try to get better: Since you are new, I suggest you just play some games online. There is the custome games which are unranked. After you know the basics and are at about high gold league level, you can start going more advanced since you understand the basics of the game. -Play quite a few games -Analyse and try to understand the game. Try to make it sound like a science. -Watch some pro people play with replays and try to understand how they play and also WHY do they do some moves etc in a game.. - And finally try new things. Of course you can play some serious matches where you would execute your build and have a straight plan. But if you never try new things etc you will basically stagnate.
Hi there, in so far as hot keys the most common ones are the wasd, and surrounding keys. In so far as the best way to learn its by jumping in multiplayer and losing alot. The best way is always to lose, I understand that you are competitive, but if you lose 500 games in a row then win 1000 in a row thats a very good record.
watch day(9) back to the basics this is the most important video (watch others too but that one will tell you stuff you should know to play well)
1. No idea how to fiddle with hotkeys; I like to keep them as is. 2. The best way to learn is to just jump right in. After I finished the campaign I just started playing Quick Match after Quick Match to learn. Mind you, the process WILL be frustrating as no one is immune to losing streaks, and your win/loss record WILL NEVER be 100% wins. IMO the best win/loss ratio to have is 50/50 anyway; it means that you're constantly being challenged, yet still learning from each match you play. And welcome to the forums!
Hello all, Thank you all very much for answering my questions. Hot keys are still bothering me though. What key do I press to find idle soldier/workers? When I look it up through options, all I see is F1. But as I have said before, F1 takes me out of the game into the Windows screen. Thanks in advance By the way, name is BeHelpful on Starcraft. Let me know if you are down for customs or just show me around!
hotkeys, i use the number keys. 1 - nexus 2 - warpgates ect ect, play around with them find what suits you. As for getting better try playing some practice league games, if ure new to SC2 obviosly you will have to lose in order to learn dont expect to become good after 10-15 games as theres people who have 600+ games and are still in low leagues, im only in gold after 100+ 1v1's, and im still learning new things. If you want people to add you, you need to include ure name + charecter code, you can find this by hovering over ure portrait ingame, like mine is Sigoth 510 if ure EU, add me.
