Well I finished it and I found the hardest mission by far: in utter darkness. With supernova being second place and all-in third (Nydus version) However, I neglected my multiplayer practice so I should start with FFA and Custom games to get up to speed again.
I have no idea how people can't get into platinum or above when they've beaten the game on brutal. I was struggling on hard!
It's more of a matter of aims and focus tbh... If you want to get good you can practice and become good, if you wanna complete the campaign you will try harder there instead and do it.. Personally I just entered silver league but I've finished the campaign on brutal with all but 1 achievment(use the artifact once on all-in) and most of these I got while playing the game either on my first playthrough on normal or on my second on brutal. For me, I wanted to be good at ladder, but I'm feeling I don't have enough time to practice for it(note on the "feeling") so Instead of logging in like 2 times a week and play like 3-4 matches in the first of which I'll feel I'm not warmed up, I kinda cower away from losing ladder points and dumped time into the campaign and that's how my completion came to be... I also find ladder a little stressing and there's way too much cheese in it for my liking, since people want to win to get those points. On the other hand, during custom games you get the choice to try out stuff you wouldn't in the ladder, lose and have no penalty for it... Like today: I've been wanting to try a bisu-like build with phoenix-dt against zerg and see how it works. I know it's much weaker than the sair/dt version of bw but still I wanted to give it a shot and see how it works. Tried it against Kuvasz on a custom game and failed miserably It felt good though and I believe that If I didn't mess up and had more tight build orders it could have worked(at least better than it did )... I believe that I can without much effort 4gate my way to plat in short time, but I feel that I'm learning better by playing with players I can discuss the games with and find my weaknesses than by playing against randoms with whom I won't get the chance to practice again or discuss the results... Both are good practice but a practice partnair with whom you can try out stuff is always better. Anyway, strayed away from it: you generally focus better on what you want to do and around what thing your aims lie, so if that's ladder, you can do it, if it's something else you still can, just need the will and dedication to... I could be wrong, but that's what I generally feel...
If you play campaign missions you can adjust the strategy until it's succesfull since the AI is predictable, you know the locations and what the enemy is going to throw at you, so scouting is not needed. average macro and micro plus optimal upgrades will be enough to beat brutal. Plus the ability to save and reload helps a lot.
Yeah, you can't tell an enemy player: Can we reaload this part please and you forget what I did in the meantime? lol
but nerfs/buffs dont affect single player campaign, the tank is the same as it was when the game first was released.
U sure about that? didn't know it! I always thought that balance changes would affect single player too. So you don't need a supply depot to make a barracks in the single player either?
Dont believe so. It makes sense too, the campaign difficulty is balanced around how the units were on release. It's been a while since I've played campaign, but I have been watching someone do it on youtube, and they mentioned how beefy the tank was because it was in its pre-patched mode(50 dmg per shot to all types).
wow, I was pretty sure the balance change was across the board, as iirc again in sc:bw patches affected single player too... I'll test it out and report back
