Future of Starcraft2Forum.org

Hey, I'm wondering...what'll happen to Starcraft2Forum.org after Starcraft 2 is out and raring? Will the forum be *MUCH* less active? Or will it stay the same?

 

It'll be more active as people discuss the campaign and start testing out the gameplay.

I doubt that "bump" will last all that long, but things would pick up again before each new expansion (there will be two).

I think you should add an option for "more active" at least for a time.

 

Despite popular belief & common sense, there will actually be LESS to do once the game comes out! So I predict that this place will shut down.

 

Well I just thought I would see what everyone thinks will happen to it. But maybe once its been out for a yr or two this site may become less popular?

I will add all the cool guys from this site to my friends list on Bnet 2.0 so I will probably come here less often.
But there will still be plenty to do here, such as sharing maps, discussing events in Wings of Liberty, and eventually discuss the future expansions.

 

What exactly is Wings of Liberty anyways?

 

Starcraft II: WIngs of Liberty will be the first part (Terran campaign) of the trilogy.
Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm is the name of the first expansion (Zerg campaign).
Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void is the name of the second expansion (Protoss campaign).

All three are working titles of course, and could change any minute. But for now, that's what they are called.

 

I say otherwise. This place is definately alot more organized than the b.net forums, though not as popular.

This forum has been alive for 2 years, and I doubt the release of the game this forum is based on will cause it to shut down. I predict activity will increase right before/right after each game comes out(possibly see members who haven't posted in a while), then return back to normal.

Not sure what will happen after the last game comes out though, as there won't be much to talk about in the sc2 section other than game bugs and build orders.

 

I think this site will last for a long time, as it's been stated before the game will pick up heavily right before SC2 comes out. Then when SC2 does come out there probably will be lots of individuals who get it that are not on this site, that will come online and join so that they can discuss the game. Although I am worried that once the last expansion comes out, things will die out because there will be no more need to come online and discuss about the games once all three have been out for a long time.

 

No doubt the forum will die eventually, most likely due to inactiveness. Though it will be a sad day when that happens

 

The members you see around now... may not all be here for the final few days of the forum, however far off that is.

Activity will be slow for a few days around, but I predict a flood of new members.

Activity will decline after Wings of Liberty, probably to what it's like about now.

 

there are 2 possibilities:


1. space jjunk and the lounge shall be the last living organ of a dead foum
2. this will turn into a forum for all blizzard games

 

Why can't it be active? there would be discussions of mods, maps, the campaign, strategies, replays, games, the pro scene, possible expansions...

 

not to mention starcraft THREEEEE!

 

I actually think that things might pick up around here and we will get a flood of new users after Starcraft 2 is released and been out for a little while. I mean the game is not out yet and only really hardcore fans would be here to discuss things very actively.

Then there is the fact once it comes out there will be a lot more to talk about, such as the campaign and mulitplayer and custom games. As well as setting up games and discussing strategy, map making etc. However at the moment none of this stuff is available yet so we are left with only real hardcore fans here speculating and antipating the game.

 

Why is there no option for "increased activity?

I am trying to be an optimist at the moment! Lol, I'll make an 'increased activity' option then. I just didnt think of that at the time! Im so glad that my thread has gotten so popular!

EDIT: I dont know how to change the poll options after its been created! Can someone help me with it?

 

For a time. Some areas, such as the discussion, will die down pretty soon. New buyers won't want to visit the campaign discussion for fear of spoilers, and when they're done with the campaign, they'll just be discussing topics the earlier buyers discussed years ago (and won't likely want to discuss them again). It isn't like WoW, where every patch gives a zillion new quests.

Maps/mods will never die down (or very very slowly).

Expansions will pick up until the expansions are all done.

Multiplayer gaming might slow down if StarCraft II starts to get stale (eg fixed build orders, either only micro style or only macro style, etc ... things that have hit StarCraft I already).
