    Something I am starting to notice about calling US citizens Americans.. Is that it pisses off Latin-America and other countries that exist in the Americas...

    Well... it certainly IS annoying the first time you hear the term.. I mean.. America is the whole thing, so calling yourself an American is some way of implying you own the continent.
    You get used to it though, and I know most people say it because they're just used to calling themselves like that, not because they actually think they own the place.

    im pretty sure we were called americans...and then we knew ourselves as americans

    cuz look - Canada- canadian,
    mexico - mexican

    now our name is not the United States, otherwise we would be , what? statians? no we are the United States of America...aka...Americans
