Could less arms mean less brain activity is needed to co-ordinate them, allowing their brains to develope in new ways.
They've grown large enough to fend for themselves, but what's to say they don't grow further once out of the egg? I think this is a good example of what I'm trying to get across.

its a mutation. but it could become a evoltution. if this guy breeds and their kids become 6 legs. then we can found ourself with a new species. the Hexapus. remember how Darwin discovered land iguanas and marine iguanas in those islands? those marine iguanas dont mate with the land ones anymore.
