    Fenix failed item 1.
Is that a Mac, or are you a rebel? (I haven't seen the newest macs much yet.)

Well, Linux desktop managers are custom by their very nature not being integral to the OS, this also makes them a pain in the ass to install sometimes. It also means a custom desktop isn't that surprising if you know what you are doing.

If it is a mac I don't care, but if that's a Windows mod, I am intrigued.

    Meee kinda got it.

    But kinda not.

    At its core, it's Vista.

However, I've tweaked the hell out of it, even replacing the shell.dll file. It looks like a Mac, interfaces like Linux, but runs programs like Windows.

I made a list of all the addons and replacements and tweaks in case I have to reformat

    It's a physical list.....

    Anyways.

The main replacement is called EmergeDesktop. It essentially kills your standard Windows look by removing the taskbar and icons and replacing them with a nice little drop down menu you can conjure by right clicking on your desktop. The menu has My Computer, Recycle Bin, Programs, Quick Launch, Desktop, Run, Shut Down, and Log Off standardly attached to it. It also replaces the 'Status Bar. with a little box. I moved mine to the bottom right, set it to 10% opacity, and 100% when I mouse over it.

I use RocketDock for all my program launching needs, as well as replacing the taskbar for minimizing. It's pretty similar to the standard Mac bar, but is a lot more customizable.

The system specs (Both on the right and on the bottom), the todo list, and the weather are widgets on something called Rainmeter, the skin being Enigma. I'm not 100% sure on what Rainmeter IS, but it's pretty awesome. I have about 12 widgets for it, but my current theme is more minimalist.

The clock itself is a widget from Yahoo! Widgets, a surprisingly useful tool. Hidden, I have a Gmail reader, a more indepth weather display, and a unit converter.

The tan box is something called CDArt Displaywith the 'ThaSkin' skin. You sync it up with most media players (No Zune player support yet so I use WinAmp), and it shows the CD art if you have internet. Cool thing about it, you can set it to display the Song title and artist as your personal message in MSN Messenger as well as automatically change your display pic to the album art of your current song.

    Behind the scene apps are:

DeskSpace (The only non-free app :( ), which basically turns my desktop into a cube. It's like having six desktops in one!! It's great for multitasking because it keeps my desktop clean and uncluttered.

3RVX is a volume meter replacement which is great if you go for a themed look. It works awesomely if you have a volume dial on a multimedia keyboard.

I ditched ScrollWall cause I decided I don't need 41 wallpapers, the current one is one of the best ones I've ever had (IMO)

    I think that's everything.

As I said, on a different IM (Polish one). You got a popup and a sound effect every time someone changes status. With that you get it every ~3-5 minutes. And you wouldn't turn those off because you want to know when someone logs in etc.
Dunno how it works now, I used that client years ago
