Some researchers noticed that the skull was too thin (men's skulls are commonly thicker - Just don't tell that to your girlfriend). They tested the DNA, and, lo and behold, it wasn't his. Nobody thought to. I mean, if someone hands you a skull, and says it's 'such and such's' skull, why would you question them? Also, I'm sure it's been in some museum, on display or something.
