Ok guys, so some people have really wanted to watch actual replays and wonder how the replay system works in SC2. There is a way though you can watch the replays (if you find some to download) just like you would if you were in the beta.

*Note* This is totally unofficial, and i haven't tried it myself yet, and can't tell you how well it works.

This site will give you all the appropriate downloads, and walk you through it. http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/portals.php?show=news&news_id=584031

And please note one more thing, this in no way allows you to actually play the beta. So don't bother trying that. It is simply to watch replays of matches through.

We do note condom piracy this forums.

Sidenote: You can actually already play the beta vs skilled AI with all the patches, no need to watch replays. *Smirk*

Technically this is not piracy. It's actually against the Blizzard TOS. So very different to what you said. But just as not allowed on this forum. Anti TOS talk is not liked here.

Well it's a FACT that you can already play the beta vs (depends on what you think is skilled AI) AI.

I havn't said anything Anti TOS. Nor has ssjfox.

It's just like saying that the beta has a menu screen. It's not wrong. We're just telling you that it's there. What you want to do with this information is up to you. Also I fail to see how posting IRC channels is anti TOS. It's just a chat.

People that are curios and want to ask about naughty pictures or anything else at all that is forbidden HERE, take it OUTSIDE the forums (because that certainly can't get you banned) PM me your email if that's the case.

So PM'ing me your email isn't against the rules.

What I'd like to see IS Blizzard's TOS. I can't seem to find anything faulty in there.

Useful information to the community (while not actually breaking ToS) > Blizzard's ToS policy.

Well people would be very happy to know that they too can experience the Starcraft 2 beta (with limitations) without paying 300 bucks, thus saving cash. That's what I call useful information to the community.

    Eat that LK.

Nah, actually playing the game is definite violation of ToS and EULA.

    And illegal.

Beta is a privilege, not a right. Just because people feel cheated they have to pay 200 bucks for a key doesn't make pirating it and then getting around the rules set by Blizzard any better.

You gotta pay to play. *Or be really lucky/patient*

People are hosting up VODs all the time of their/other peoples replays all the time. Day[9] comes to mind quite fast.

200$ for a key is WRONG. Wrong, wrong, wrong! It costs more than the freakin game! Most people who pirate obviously care about SC2, so why shouldn't they be able to participate in the beta? Especially when it's there, and ready to be played? Should a complete asshole that doesn't give a sh*t about SC2 get it randomly in his email and sell it? Does that make any sense?

"...doesn't make pirating it and then getting around the rules set by Blizzard any better"

Why wouldn't it be any better?!
So you mean it's better to pay 200 bucks to play something that you can get for free? A few people playing a cracked beta isn't something that Blizzard cares about that much. Why should they?

Get this, I would never in my life pay that kind of money for a beta key. If I was really rich, perhaps. But some people can't afford paying 200 dollars for a beta while they still care about SC2. Naturally, whenever a crack is released, these people tend to take advantage of the crack and in this case you spend nothing. Scenario 2 is If the crack wouldn't have been released at all. Then you wouldn't have been able to play. You still spend nothing.
Blizzard doesn't benefit from you either testing it or not.

    Play it = spend nothing.
Don't play it = spend nothing.

So no matter what, it's either play the beta or not. It's just as simple as that.

You gotta pay to play? Not if it's free.
Because that's what the beta keys are: free.
They give them out for FREE.

But we live in a market economy. No matter what you do something that has less supply than demand is going to be expensive. And will be sold.

Technically, the amount of SC2 Beta is unlimited because it's a copy-paste thing in computer terms. Thus it's worth far less than 200, because the supply is unlimited and there is less demand. If only people would spread the word a bit (a SC2 forum? No way!).

The only reason it's worth anything now is because you can play online vs others, and some people arn't PC-geeks and generally have little information about this.. but i'm sure the online part can also be cracked.

They give them out limited number over time. Patience is another form of payment for it.

    Agreed patience is the key.
But all the "hehe I have a beta key and stfu to all those who do not" I have read from so many places makes it a real test of our patience.

This has gone a bit OT, no? I'll just add to that then :D a friend of mine got his key this morning... and he put out "I'm in the SC2 BETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"* as his personal message on MSN. Now where is that delete button...

As for the topic (or rather, loosely relating to it), I just couldn't be arsed to go into that much hassle to be able to watch games. I'm not even saying that watching wouldn't be worth it because you have all the nifty little controls and... well, you get SC2 in the highest resolution you can, with complete freedom in spectating. I just lost interest and don't intend to do all that.

*number of exclamation marks might not match

I can see why some people would like to see the replays. 100% control to check out units and see certain things, high res without having to wait for Youtube to download it.....

Talking about the YouTube I suggest you to check out this channel: a guy from California (I guess it was California) is commenting many SC 2 replays and first person pvp matches. Name's HDstarcraft and he's uploading awesome videos. (And he's also providing the chance to win a BetaKey!)

Yeah, and you get better chances if you say it on forums...
How many people have suddenly begun to "love" HDs channel after getting more raffle chances if you ad for it.
But it´s legit wanting a key. And atleast you are a little bit honest about it.

    Hi there,

I think I maybe have a problem into the beta. I wish to look at the replays of my games but I always have a problem. It is written in french but the translation should be Your mod dont match the selected game.
I don't understand what it means.
Is it actually possible to look at the replays into the beta or have I to export them?

I've been able to watch them in game without exporting them without any issues.
I recommend hdstarcraft on youtube for replays.
As for beta keys...gamestop is giving them away if you preorder sc2. And you only have to put down $10. My friend got his there last week it works fine.
