...because I had dropped it next to my stash prior to fighting Diablo, and all NPCs/items stopped responding to my clicks. ****.
Well it depends on the amount, actually. I always gamble away my excess money to avoid that from happening. And keeping it on the ground... things disappear from there... it's still safer to just gamble. I sometimes get wicked items. And by the time your character is equipped with too good items to gamble, their repair costs will drain your money
That's the one. You lose a quarter of your total gold each time you die, and after my run-in with Duriel dropping my money has been standard procedure to prevent myself from going broke. I make private games on B.net anyway, getting my cash stolen isn't a problem.
I wasn't referring to stealing... things disappear from the ground. And the loss of gold is described like this: So you do not lose a quarter of your money. I always keep my money at around half a million because that way I don't lose any when dying. Assuming character levels where the game really starts to unfold.
a quarter, a fifth - the point is when I first went up against Duriel, I had 600k. Some number of deaths later, I had around 5k left to resurrect my hireling and go farming for an hour or two to get some of my money back. Also, it's total bullshit when I am the sole player in my own passworded game and it decides to freeze on me.
Well isn't having a 7300GT only being able to render very poorly and having to choose software rendering BS? Meee, I think the percentages are true for multiplayer - only the no gold lost bit is single player-specific.
Another difference between single player and multiplayer is that in multiplayer your stash is capped at 2.5 million from level 1 onwards. So yeah, nearly half of my stash's capacity, gone in an instant.
