Hello everyone, so the topic of the evening is the following what is the best units overall to kill a terran player? I have had some difficulties against terran players because i never gotten my charge on my zealots before he rushs me with his marines/maruders and kites/micro them until they all die...So what is the basic to kill a terran player? Thank you for your time :)

you haven't grasped the concept of the game yet. There is no best unit.

you need to scout... find out what he is building

build accordingly. Stalkers+sentries and VoidRays are your best bet if you are too lazy to scout.

There is no basics to this game, ya ideas. No basic build you do to defeat a Terran player, sure there is a basic opening. Everyone has problems with Terran so I wouldn't be to worried, if you want you can stay in touch and we can do some games to help you figure out what your having problems with.

Everyone has problems with everything at first until you learn how to overcome them. I'd argue some more about how Terran isn't OP, but I already made a huge post in the "Protoss Disadvantage?" thread, which nobody managed to refute yet.

Anyway Robin, Sentries can really help you out when you are facing an early Marine/Marauder push. When the army is moving up the ramp/choke point and into your base, using forcefields can completely change the outcome. If you use them to completely block the choke, not many of the enemy units will be in range of your units, however if you spread out at the top of the ramp all of your units can hit his. Sometimes you can use them to split the enemy army in half, obviously making it easier to take the enemy down. The key is to make sure only some of his units are in range of your units, and then you will be able to take down his early force piece by piece.

If the player continues to make Marine/Marauder, Colossi will be useful, especially against the marines, as they do splash damage in a sweeping line (and Marines/Marauders form a line to attack). If they add in some Siege Tanks, get Immortals and Void Rays to counter it. If they add in Thors, Immortals will do the job here as well, and Zealots can be useful also. Just be sure that you are scouting his base (Observers are useful) and checking on what units he is making. Then react to what you see.

EDIT: If the Terran player winds up going for a Mech Build (lots of Helions, Siege Tanks, and Thors), take advantage of his immobile army and use Warp Prisms to drop units into his main base. If he moves his immobile army to go and defend against the attack, then that will leave his choke pretty much open, so you can move the rest of your army through there and cause a lot of damage.

    Hope all of that helps.

What I meant by everyone has problems with Terran is that they are the most common race that people have problems with. You can't ignore that.

I actually haven't noticed this lol. Terran is the easiest match-up for me, but that's probably because I play Terran and I know the possibilities and extent of the race. I mean, I certainly don't see all the threads that say "This race vs. This race, help me?" but I haven't seen a majority of them that are about defeating Terran.

At a newbie difficulty level, you should be able to just out-macro him. If the game goes beyond 10 minutes, expand alot and get a great econ going. Build an army of mostly gateway units with a few immortals and collosi thrown in ("tossball"). This should be able to steamroll over anything terran can throw at you. Remember to turn on the sentries force field and just march into his base and murder his face.

    1. No need to quote if the post is right above you. Maybe do a @ or just reply.

    2. I personally see many people complaining about Terran and the weakness of Zerg.

I always see people complaining about the weakness of Zerg, and I agree with them. But I feel like I see people complain equally about Protoss or Terran because of Void Rays, Siege Tanks, Dark Templar Rushes, or just the races in general.

The only thing that needs to be nerfed with Zerg is the fact that a bunch of Infestors can burrow, run into someones base, and spam Infested Terran. But then again maybe that's the only thing Zerg has going for them right now. :p

No offense sniper64, but you often don't know what you are talking about lol.

i believe noobs struggle against terran. The player must adjust to the game "pace" depending on the other race.

zerg is weak yes... but it evens out when you have a 2:1 army vs his army. People like this/you keep thinking "OK he has 6 marauders, I'll make 6 stalkers." where in fact you should be building 3 zealots and 3 stalkers.
