I think I've finally found a job that'd suit Meee: Unprovided with original learning, unformed in the habits of thinking, unskilled in the arts of composition, I resolved to write a book. - Edward Gibbon The only thing I was fit for was to be a writer, and this notion rested solely on my suspicion that I would never be fit for real work, and that writing didn't require any. - Russell Baker A writer is a person for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people. - Thomas Mann
You guys do realize I'm half serious. At most. Right? I'm really thinking of it, but there's just so much problems I'm not sure if I should even bother trying
Yeah, I understand that, but updating a word document every now and then is something anybody could do, without working full time as an author. And maybe it turns out nice, making it worth the shot.
Theoretically, I don't have any free time at all. However, finding time to waste was always my strong point It's constant shortage, but I should be getting a bit more soon. I'm done with friday exercises, I'm finishing my english classes (which I should be at right now ) in three weeks and then there's "holidays" coming. In ~two months and it won't do much, but always something. But really, the main problem is likely my motivation, or rather lack thereof >.>
Regarding motivation. Maybe you've heard it before, but the best thing is to just start writing. It has worked for me several times. Usually it starts with me thinking playing games or reading the forums is a lot better, but when I actually start writing I realize it's actually a lot more entertaining. So maybe some of your current time wasters can be naturally traded out for some writing.
That's the only thing I could trade anyway. It might not be good enough in the end, so obviously I'd have to keep working, which ruins over half of most of the week :/
You could try professional gaming. Just play non-stop. .) But for writing seriously, I would do it part time. Maybe write a short story first before going to deep in it.
I couldn't do progaming. I can't devote that much to a single game over extended period of time and if I actually did what would I do for recreation?
Do a few variations on existing short stories first. Easy stuff like fairytales, or something. Writing is kinda hard, so if you plan on writing a whole unique story right away.. Good luck.
Just because someone was too lazy to do that in the first place... >.> Though starting with some shorts is a good idea (time consuming too) I might try something Warcraft if I ever get around to doing that
