Since I still haven't been able to complete final fantasy for technical reasons, I haven't done one of these in a while. But, this was one I was always planning to do. Keep in mind I have not read any supplementary materials, so my information comes purely from the show itself. Let's meet our characters Kathryn Janeway, captain of the USS Voyager. Bipolar coffee-addict with a tendency for megalomania. Does her best to either safe, avoid, ruin or exterminate every civilization she comes accross, depending solely on how much trouble it would cause her crew. Chakotay, former leader of the destroyed maquis vessel from the pilot, and first officer on-board the USS Voyager. Has been brainwashed by Janeway, becoming her loyal servant. Duties include "standing and smiling sheepishly" and "being a native american". Tom Paris: terrorist, convict and, most notably, übermensch. Expert on piloting, quantum mechanics, 20th century history, botany, early space exploration, warp travel, engineering, diplomacy, linguistics, early science-fiction, seduction, making prison shivs and table pool. He was kicked of the academy solely because his professors were jealous. Duties include "deus ex machina", "boinking chicks", "constructing vessels that are ahead of current starfleet technology by several thousand years" and "lizard-sex" B'elana Torres. Former maquis and current chief engineer on voyager. Female half-klingon. Duties include "being a female half-klingon". Is unable to identify crap, even with the assistance of highly advanced sensor technology. Tuvok. Vulcan and security officer. Spends as much time away from the rest of the crew as possible in an effort to stay sane. Duties include "being beaten up the second the enemy arrives so he won't get any screen-time" and "repeating the captain's weapon-related orders" Harry Kim. Is so bad at his job starfleet academy claimed he was a "prodigy", solely so that janeway would take him away from them. Closet homosexual. Duties include "dying", "sucking at everything" and "looking at Tom Paris with longing eyes, knowing they could never be together". Neelix. Pedophilic garbage-man who has conned the crew into thinking he is a survival expert, cook, skilled engineer and expert on the region. Once nearly destroyed the ship with his home-made cheese. Once tried to start a kitchen-based tyrannical regime. Kes. Neelix's two year old girlfriend. Is a powerful psychic. Is the head of botany and head nurse at the same time. Went insane because she was replaced with someone sexier. Seven of nine. Someone sexier. Wears a custom uniform for no reason other than to show how big her breasts are. Former borg drone that was liberated by Janeway in the hopes of forming her own collective. Since then, she has become Janeway's pet project. The Doctor. Highly intelligent AI, skilled physician and capable of altering his own programming to improve himself. Despite all this, he still hasn't been able to think up a name. Voyager was an attempt to show completely new concepts in the star trek universe. To introduce strange new aliens. To show conflict within a crew, and to explore the gray areas of morality. For a grand total of five episodes. The rest of the series is basically The Next Generation with an insane crew. The show is ridiculously low on continuity, losing at least 25 of its 2 shuttlecraft and firing at least 90 of its 37 photon torpedoes. A legendary bad episode is "treshold", which has to be seen to be believed (warp 10 turns you into a horny salamander). There are some good episodes as well, like "scorpion" and "equinox", but the chances of catching one of the good episodes are very, very low. All in all, I wouldn't recommend watching voyager, unless you want a good laugh at it's bad writing.
Also, fun fact: it only has one shuttlebay, called shuttlebay two and every time they visit it, there is only one ship visible, despite Neelix's ship being permanently placed there.
Also, quick tip. The less the episode features the original voyager crew (but instead time-duplicates, clones, holograms or plain ol' copies), the better the chances of it being good.
