1v1 I'm a solid Bronze player... maybe should get bumped to Silver soon.

However, in 2v2 random, by some freak of nature I got placed into Gold. A few games got matched up with good players that did 90% of the work and got promoted to Platinum.

Now, every game I can drastically see the skill is way out of my league, as I've definitely been placed far above my skill range. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah.. the placement system is all messed up. I assume it will get better over time as more data is input into the system.

I was ranked bronze in 1v1 out of placement, and have just been promoted to silver.. but I'm typically platinum/diamond (I got 3rd in the tournament this forum posted).

You'll likely be bumped down soon enough. Or just learn from your teammates and become a real platinum player! :)

I like playing 2v2 the most, but don't like the fact that we pull out a barely miraculous win... or get steam rolled.

It's funny to watch my replays and see how we win watching my teamate pull out crazy micro/ macro and kill enemies I didn't even know were there.

My units do make good fodder and distractions though while my teamate does WORK.

    Just play more games

Play more games in 2v2 and it'll even out over time. With only 5 matches to determine initial placement, some people will get lucky/unlucky and get placed too high or too low. Over time, say 20 or 30 matches, the system will have a lot more data to work with, and it will re-set your placement.

Just know that if you get ranked-down, it's not that you got worse at 2v2, it's just the comps' best guess based on your last few matches.

    The 1v1 system is decent.

The 2v2 system is all kinds of whack. There's really not much rhyme or reason to it when it has less than 10 matches under it's belt to gauge where you're at. There are times when it seems like it tries to put a bad and good player on one team, and a bad and good player on the other team. Then, there are times when it just straight-up under-favors you in a match and gives you a bad ally against two good opponents.

I've played about 100 matches in Platinum 2v2, and the system evens out eventually and you'll have more fair matches. I'm a solid Gold 1v1 player, but I have decent map-awareness and good cooperation skills so I'm in Top10 2v2 platinum.

I complained several times in beta about the placement. Its like they didn't even try. Yahoo chess has better placement.

If you check the profiles of people you've played against, you can often find that, for instance, you're in silver league, your ally is platinum and your opponents are bronze and some guy doing placement matches. Its sort of no wonder its so screwed up.

Its true, as BambooPanda says, if you play long enough, you'll eventually get a better rank for you, but so then why have placement matches at all, I wonder... ?

Should everybody then start in Bronze, since there is no placement matches?
Placement matches is just for the system to "guess" where your skill level is.
As many have said, you will either get bumped down in the ladder, or get better so you deserve the victories.

It evens out after a while because if you get put with platinum and diamond constantly but you arent good enough you will lose enough to get bumped back down. I know I cant play in diamond yet.
