I have been testing things in s 2v2 random game and we were co-ordinating an attack and I told him: I came with marines to do a joint atack. And it ended up saying to him I !&&$ with marines to do a ^&*( attack. Like wtf? I think the language filter here censors way to much. Does anyone else have the same issue with the language filter? And for refrence I found this nice chat about it on the official forums. http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=24630844813&sid=5000
Blizzard is using an amazingly broad language filter, so just turn it off. I was too lazy to bother with it up until I tried to type "terrorist" last night (making a joke about my roaming Overlord) and it was filtered. I mean....seriously? When did terrorist become a word that needed to be filtered? I'm still debating contacting some local news media to see if they'd be interested in running a piece on it. "The Terror-bomb, and other "dirty" words in our post-9/11 world". News at 11.
But then they'd be using Battle.net to organise mass bombings and no one would see it coming because nobody would look in a gaming network or believe it if caught by accident. Ingenious.
Yes people do this. But the issue here is in a 2v2 you don't know if your ally has the language filter on or off. So I agree with you if everyone has the laguage filter off. But you can not be 100% sure your 2v2 ally will have it off. And the funniest thing is I read the word master is censored. I know this cause I told him about Masterchef. Aussies would know this. And it ended up being "I really like the show &*!@#$chef". And he was like lol wtf? Very funny.
That's their problem. If they run into a problem where the language filter is blocking something they need to see, surely they'll disable it.
Well first of all you can edit adult filter in social settings, and turn it off. In a hilarious side note "rapers" is not edited out, in case a hasty Terran player makes a spelling typo.
