You have a right to use peer to peer programs to share information.

There are some copyright laws that carry criminal punishment for infringement, but others are bluffs.

I've had a report of an ISP that has actually tried to interfere with a user's downloads by infringing on their privacy.

If you have a question about this subject, or are having a problem with something of this nature, please post here and I will do my best to answer your question and/or help you out.

Any specific requests for knowledge will be answered eagerly with whatever I know.

Here is what piracy REALLY is.

And here is a solution to the problem presented to me by Tweakismyname. Although he didn't exactly understand what I was saying. Maybe this will help:

    I found the problem.

You guys need to watch out for "dirty" torrents and downloads. Companies hire other companies to go out and literally seed downloads online. They then watch who connects to these downloads ( they're purposely made high speed so they attract downloaders, they're also usually mainstream content... games/movies/etc.). They track down your IP and then contact your ISP. The ISP receives the complaint and sends you a warning.

Watch where and what you download. Don't download mainstream material that is seeded highly. If the download seems to fast, it's probably dirty.

These torrents are NOT seeded by isohunt, etc. They are seeded by COMPANIES PAID TO DO THIS. They are trying to catch you. It's a venus fly trap.

Yeah. It IS illegal. It's called entrapment. Only the FBI should be allowed to do this, but apparently private companies are being allowed to do it in order to submit complaints.

Kinda hard to report them as you have to expose yourself as a downloader. Just be aware of where the torrent comes from. Like I said, avoid extremely mainstream downloads, and if the DL speed looks too good to be true, it probably is.

You should also check your ISP's policy regarding downloading complaints. If they don't care, they won't do anything anyway.

Cox (tweak's provider) DOES care and will shut you down, despite the fact that the methods used to find who is downloading is technically illegal.
