legalizing soft drugs?

well, all you people probably know that softdrugs are legal in holland(kinda, it is a very difficult legal situation) and it helps greatly against hard-drug use, and the dutch had(i dont know if they still have) a kind of weaker hasjies(nederweed), half as strong as normal hasjies. Do you think soft drug use should be legal as too reduce hard drug use?

 

Uh, no, I even want to have smoking banned. But seriously, even if in Holland soft drugs are legal, it serves as a gateway to the rest of europe's drug dealing.

soft drugs are a drug category for drugs that are far less harmfull than so called hard drugs, i vote that hasjtea and cake become legal

 

I think it's too late to try to legalize it anywhere else but in Holland. Soft drugs like marijuana are too popular to legalize. If it did get legalized in the United States, I think that people would just go overboard as soon as the law got passed. There would be a few years of uncontrolled drug abuse amongst the people where people would do stuff like drive while high and drug related deaths would skyrocket. But, in a country like Holland, where it has been available for so long, a lot of people don't want it. Since they can get it anytime they want, they get used to the fact and don't even have the desire to do it. But assuming the people of the United States could get by the first few years or so without having a massive string of deaths or drug-related deaths that could be attributed to the fact that soft drugs had been legalized, I think it would be possible.

So in short, if it was legalized, I think there would be excessive use immediately following the legalization, but after that period, the novelty of its availability would wear off and patterns of use would mirror that of the Dutch.

 

wtf man, i do marijuana and i've never once thought about suicide, and as far as i know, never has any of the people i know.

if you look at the stats, its lesss harmfull than alchohol so yes i think itshould be.

 

it's less harmful because it's harder to obtain and more expensive

 

harder to obtain? im 15!!! where could i get alchohol? and yet i can just pop down the street from school...

 

But drivers are usually adults and it's easier for them to just go and buy alocohol then drugs, also it's much more used on bigger parties etc.

Weed shouldnt be illegal. All it does is make you giggle uncontrollably. Is that all that dangerous?

 

well, maybe thirty years ago, and with nederweed, but weed has become strogner the last 20 years

 

its not the weed that's dangerous, its the things people do when they are high that makes it dangerous (ie driving)

But really, I think weed should be regulated, albeit heavily. Once you legalize and regulate drugs, less and less illegal drug dealers would want to sell weed because their customers would just pop down to their local drug store or whatever and grab some. Naturally it should have some limit, but it'll be a lot better for everyone (except the drug dealers) if it was just legalized, just like prostitution would be safer if it was legal and regulated.

and really its not because people intentionally go from weed onto harder things, its that dealers lace their stock in order to keep customers, which has negative effects. sold at a shop would not have the same effect.

There are other factors to consider in situations like this. For example, both companies and individuals could and would both start using or at least integrating hydroponically grown marijuana into what they're selling, making it cheaper to grow, which is a good thing for the sellers, but making it more harmful than organically grown marijuana. Also, mixing marijuana and alcohol, which would be a common combination at almost any sort of social event imaginable, can potentially lead to death by alcohol poisoning, as marijuana will stop you from throwing up from excess alcohol, which leads to an excess amount of alcohol in the body, and thus, alcohol poisoning.

Anyway, in answer to the people who are saying things like 'how is weed dangerous?', that's how.

I would never smoke weed. Ever. I like my lungs.
