I Just had a dream go lucid when I dreamt of our pet rabbit and the dogs both roaming free through the house, something which I realized would never happen I realized I was dreaming, also that I had wanted to not fall asleep. With this new knowledge I began to manipulate my dream, being that I don't want to be asleep at this time I tried to wake myself. Tried screaming, no sound. Tried slapping myself, not enough strength in my arms. It was really really freaky. Anyone else have any similar experiences?
Not enough strength to act in a dream. Happened to me couple of times. But usually when I know it is a dream, I just manipulate it with ease. Never wanted to especially wake up from it though
That happens to be sometimes too. What freaked me out was the fact I was consciously trying to wake up and it made me feel trapped and powerless without the protective detachment that usually comes with dreaming. For me nothing is scarier than not having the power to affect my surroundings, so knowing I am laying in bead perfectly still, unable to move myself and unable to escape the dream rattled me pretty good. Perhaps it would be better described as a lucid nightmare. As for wanting to wake up that's because I have stuff to do, can't sleep all day. I could have stood to sleep another half hour bit without any sense of time that seemed like a bad idea.
But you know that waking from a dream does not modify the time you sleep right? If you wake right now or at the end of your dream it's Milliseconds duration.
You were still in the dream when it happened, or half-awake? I sometimes "wake up" and can't do anything, then realise it's another dream. As for lack of strength in dreams, have that too sometimes. Years ago I would most of the time have trouble seeing anything in dreams. Everything was blurry and I was even rubbing my eyes or anything, nothing helped. It sucks, especially if it was a cool dream otherwise :/ I just noticed I haven't had that in a long while
@Vodka. I know that but the REM cycle usually doesn't kick in untill you have been asleep for some time, so I thought it might be later. I didn't know if I was running late or not since I had no sense of time. @Meee I was fully asleep. I have had waking dreams and this wasn't one of them. No sense of reality whatsoever. I was standing in the dream at the time I tried to hit myself, despite me laying in bed in reality. I was in my house thinking this was real and that I had just gotten out of bed to investigate a noise then once I saw the rabbit I realized I was dreaming, and still in bed.
Omg... Life is seriously mocking me... Everything I want... Someone else gets! I want to have a lucid dreams because then I could do some things... Naughty things... And good things... Hehe...hehe.... But it sucks though, I've been trying to have a lucid dream for about a little under a year. Yet the only time I've almost gone lucid, I woke myself up because I was too excited! Anyways, why didn't you try to have some fun in your dream? If you're not going to wake up you might as well go flying around your neighborhood naked. I mean, in your dream, of course. Another question. How exactly did you go lucid? I mean did you see your dogs and suddenly *pop* "Omg it's a dream!" Did you?
I once fell asleep with the TV on, and at around 7am Ed, Edd, n' Eddy started playing. I started dreaming about the three main characters, execpt they were all wearing skeleton costumes, and the culdesac was on fire...
The rabbit was running around in the same room as the dogs. Something that would never be alowed to happen. Odd though that having books stacked to the ceiling didn't trigger the realization though. I've actually been wanting to have a lucid dream but the fact that I had stuff to do at the time made it somewhat inconvenient
i have many lucid dreams. Sometimes i even see myself as a 3rd person. Eventually i try to hard to stay focus and i wake up.
Wow this must be the 1003948th thread on these forums about lucid dreams lol. Hmm when i want to "eject" myself from a lucid dream i normally try to shut my eyes and tense all my muscles as much as i can and when i open my eyes again i'm awake xD. @DarkTemplar Its normally hard enough to keep the lucidness without trying to expand the dream to a large outside world where you can fly around . If you really want a lucid dream try waking yourself up at like 5:00am then reading in bed for an hour and going back to sleep. Seems to work for me...
I've never been able to wake myself if I'm having a lucid dream. I'm so glad though when it's a nightmare and I know that it is just a dream. Because then I give myself whatever I need to make it.
How vivid is the lucid dream? As in, does it seem like real life? Is it the exact same except crazier? Is it like vivid to your senses?
