Well, today my dad decided to use my computer and when I came home from school, he told me my hard drive doesn't work. I got real mad, but didn't show it. So, in the place of my beloved PC, he gave me this box thingy called a Macintosh. I would like to know, who likes what computer type the best? And if so, why?

I like PC's better because to me, I'm just more used to it, it's just a little neater and easier to interface with.

I've used both, and both are really good at what they're good at, it's just I like what a PC's good at better.

I use a Mac for most of my actual work stuff, and PC for recreation.

I voted for the category that is, I guess, other...
I have an iMac that runs both Mac OS X Leopard and Windows XP, which technically isn't either option. I use the Windows partition solely for gaming, and everything else I do on the Mac partition. It is sort of the best of both worlds.

...I still feel like a traitor for not voting for pure Macintosh...

I'm a gamer so PC is kind of my only choice.
Sometimes I use my PC as a Staging environment to test things for work, and since my work is all Windows, I won't use a Mac to manage my Active Directory ;)

    I prefer the layout
    i feel less clostrophobic
I enjoy haveing the windows not demand the attention of the enter screen.
I like Comic Life, iMovie, iTuenes and Garage Band
PLUS Starcraft, Battlefiled 2142 , and Peggle all are for Mac, so I'm happy.

Remeber, I said what you like the best, not what you use the most.

I like both. I really can't choose. PC for gaming/working needs. MAC for studio/media needs. They both are important and liked equally by me.

  13. Same here I use both although as a Mac engineer I suppose I'm a bit biased.

I am against Macs for a couple of reasons. First they are more expensive than an equivalent PC, second they don't have very many upgrade options like PCs, when the mac is outdated all you can do is buy a new one (same for if something breaks). I also hate the crap flimsy keyboard because it has no tactile feedback (I grew up on IBM PC keyboards that break your fingers and clack at 100dB) and the mouse sucks too; those are easily replaced though.

That said, I would prefer it if Apple sold their operating system for me to be able to put on my PC. I wouldn't use it everyday, but it has its uses.

Nahh you're no traitor. I'm right now doing renders on Maya, and for all I've heard, Macs OSX is always better and uses more Ram than windows at any version (vista 32 bits/64 whatever) but mainly for graphics and 3D applications take Maya, and all Adobe programs for video and composition. In my area, that's the main reason guys like me ever vote on Mac. Still, when most of us get big macs, we always install a windows partition. Why? To play some games OF COURSE...and because some applications are only available for windows. Another fact is that dedicated graphic cards for macs(running on leopard) are immediatly more expensive than if u get it for a PC and some display some drawback. Despite any of this, I use windows xp 64 on a normal PC. Macs are too damm expensive, but great machines with great interfaces for 3D applications mainly.

Exactly...nowadays the normal evolution for guys doing that kind of stuff is getting workflow on Mac and have a partition on windows to have fun with games.

Firstly Macs are not more expensive then the equivalent PC's. That's just a myth. A few of us have crunched all the numbers. And I think most times the Apples are like a few $ higher. That's it. No real difference..

Secondly Apples are not better than PC's. And Vice versa. Each is good at a different thing. To me if I wanted a dedicated gaming rig I'd make my own PC. But if I wanted to work with music or video in any way I'd get an Apple. Each has their strengths and weaknesses.

And Bootcamp/Parallels is not the same as a PC. Sure it runs windows just great. But it's not PC hardware. And that's what all the gamers want. And I don't blame them. If I was a hardcore gamer I'd have a PC too. But I'm not really.

Lastly I voted for the Apple. Because I have one. Because it does what I need it to. I think the best computer is what forfills your needs the best. Whatever that is.

I use a Mac, always and only a Mac. If there was ever a game I wanted to play that does not have a Mac version, most are easy to Cyderize, or I can log in to Windows via BootCamp. I started my computer experience on windows 3.11, all the way to up to XP, and since I met the Mac, I never returned to windows, unless when I need to deal with it at work.
My Mac serves me perfectly for work and leisure. :)
