@Eon - It's actually aimed 7 different people, yourself included, yelling at me fore censoring free speech. I felt a definition of free speech was appropriate. I'm not singling you out by any means.

Basically, you have the right to say whatever you want as long as it's not attacking anyone elses beliefs and ideas.

So essencially, freedom of speech doesn't really exist, and the gov't has the right to take it away. If you really wanna look into it, research Japanese Americans in WWII for a good example of how real the first amendment really is

 

The government does whatever the hell it wants.

We're not the government. We set a guideline and ask that you follow it.

 

I know that, I was just stating that in the real world, the gov't has the right to give people no rights and the right to take those rights people do have away. So in reality, rights don't truely exist as the gov't can do what it wants with them legally.

Also, about gov't doing what it wants, isn't that the reason America(and many other colonies) forcefully broke away from he empires that held them?

 

Which is exactly the reason we have rights. The government only has control over its people as long as they let it.

 

Guys, I think people are starting to get too worked up over this, but look at it this way:

We're not saying you can't say this or you can't say that.
Just don't bash other people or post offensive stuff.

If I can adhere to these rules, you guys should be able to easily.

 

This has nothing to do with any freedoms, it's a service that you can be denied if you don't adhere to the terms of service.

 

problem in my case though was that I didnt even see what I said as racist. I didn't have any personal exp. with eastern cultures, so I was only stating things I'd heard about it from other people and news programs.

 

Hence the statement I made about fact-checking.

 

Fenix would you mind sending me a PM listing the people who complained to you about freedom of expression? Or at the very least make a Hyperion post with the information.

To everyone else, this site has ZERO freedom of expression, the only freedoms you have are what the admin grants. The admin pays for this site and has absolute authority of what can and cannot be posted. Also, there is no freedom of expression in any privately own enterprise or forum, the rights (other than those protected by state/federal law like not being shot/harmed) people have in a place that is privately owned is completely up to the person/corporation providing the forum/service, this is why most places have a clear terms of service agreement whenever you pay for something.

If anyone has a problem with this site's restrictions on comments and expression you are free to leave. This is not directed at anyone in particular, (Eon I personally didn't have a problem with the posts you have been accused of racism in, the thread itself did need to be locked though) but it is something that should be taken to heart before anyone complains to a mod/admin about censorship (even though if you believe you have been unfairly treated most of us are willing to listen to your concerns).
