So, I know this is kinda different than normal lounge stuff, but whatev.

Does anyone find that woman 'attractive?' Good looking? That there is a contestant for Australia's Miss Universe contest, one of the premier national model competitions.

Personally, I find it abhorrent. There is far too much emphasis on 'thin' in Western culture.

I don't find her attractive at all.I think her face is a little to straight edged. Plus she is just two thin, it looks like if you were to hug her or lean on her shoulder you'd bruise her.

She's an attractive enough girl, but her choice of clothing and the fact that she's dropped below negative ten percent total body fat doesn't make for a good combination.

However I do feel it appropriate to bring up another point of how everyone feels it appropriate to judge how attractive absolutely every girl over the age of fourteen is, especially when half the time they're declaring that Vogue models are ugly, which leads to the ultimate irony that every single last one of these people would be so lucky to ever go out with, yet alone score or settle down, that they'd have to be struck by lightning every second second for thirty years in order for their luck to balance out. Then there's the fact that, by extension, seeing as every single girl on Earth doesn't appear in these ads at one stage or another, though it took me a while to come to this conclusion, not, whenever they actually do meet someone, granted they actually do, they'd have to find that person truly disgusting and find that they fall well below their previously set standards, and seeing as the fact remains that they will keep going out with them, settle down with them, or whatever, that they were only ever originally claiming that the model's they'd previously talked about were ugly in an attempt to boost their, quite obviously, insecure ego. Correct?

Every one does have their own view of what's beautiful. There is no real norm among every single person. And uh Itza can you give me the short version, my attention span can't make it all the way through your post.

Long rant shot, the irony of people saying model's they see in ads or whatever are ugly.

In case anyone is worried that mainstream media is causing this problem I can assure you it is definitely against underweight models (Though they do all like to join the blame bandwagon). I live in Australia and for the past day or two I have been bombarded by articles on TV and in newspapers slamming the fact that the miss universe Australia competition even let this girl into the finals ... The judges have expressed their regret for allowing this to happen.

In my opinion she is beautiful (TV interviews make her look less deathly) however she would look and be a lot healthier with another 6-7 kg under her belt >> ...at her age being underweight is even worse than being overweight.

Model's weight should be controlled for these kind of events so insecure girls do not kill themselves by attempting to copy their shape. It was kinda sad when I went to a party and a girl went straight for the vodka because she claimed beer had too many carbs... blame advertising for manipulating the western zeitgeist...

I agree with Itza's rant (All models are out of your league so deal with it =P )

Nope not at all. My girlfriend does amateur modeling as a hobby and she isn't as thin as that.

Did you know elementary school girls in America are now learning how to diet and stay thin? We had a whole discussion on it in my Developments class.

Thanks Itza for the shortened version. Also come to think of it, she is a model for a reason. It's cool that Hodl's girlfriend is an amateur model. But for some odd reason most companies want really thin models. She looks revealing thin now, but what doe she model? If she models regular every day clothes then you don't need to notice the thinness.

I am actually ashamed that it has come to this. It is a product of the low calorie, no carbs craze and it is pretty much taking away from the children.

Thin models will always be, although they are not as tasteful as their full bodied counterparts, they still manage to make certain pieces of clothing look sexy.

Personally, I think a lot of normal girls around my age are far more attractive than most models you see on different types of media. To me the models seem way too skinny and malnourished. I like a normal average build woman that isn't too fat but not too skinny either.

It is a shame that the media is giving girls these ideas too that you have be well dieted and super skinny to be attractive.

I think women worry too much about bein skinny. Then again, I'm not much better...I get the whole low self esteem for not being such, even if I don't think really skinny models are attractive. I mean, you can see all her -bones-. But society is like hell yeah that's beautiful so I, and other girls I've talked to, are elft feeling like damn, i wish i could ever look like that.

I'd start giving the girls compliments here but I won't for three reasons, one that'd be creepy, two I've never met you in person, and three if my fiance saw I gave another girl a compliment she'd kill me. So uh good work ladies your doing fine...I hope that won't get me into trouble.
