Hello. I was just wondering if anyone knew how many Beta testers were there ? ALso, do you guys think we will see an increase in beginners ? I mean I'm assuming most of the Beta testers were people who have played SC1. That being said then it should be a bit easier to move up the ladder since there will be lots of new players out there. Correct me if I'm wrong. Im not saying someone who was in Bronze will make it to Diamond but maybe they will encounter ppl who don't know strategies, who don't know what they're doing more often than before.
1) No, but according to an interview, virtually everyone who opted-in got a key. 2) Yes. You shouldn't assume that beta testers all played StarCraft I. People who opted-in probably did, but a lot of people won keys at BlizzCon, which is more WoW-focused than anything else. Furthermore, many SC 1 players who became testers might have been beginners, or were driven out by the horrible experiences of battle.net 1. 3) You might see a small increase in your rank, but don't expect big things. If you're already a Silver player, outside of placement matches you won't meet the influx of Bronze players.
I tried to get a beta key but also failed. How bad will I be at this game? About me: I have never played sc1. I played War3 extensively and considered myself to be pretty good. I assume I'll be a complete noob but I hope to pick it up pretty fast.
I played Sc 1.. but that game came out in 99, i played that game so long my accounts turned into "illegals" and people thought i was jesus or something. that being said i havent touched Sc1 in maybe 5 years.. sooo ill consider myself a newb. but hopefully ill pick up some strategies
The game is pretty similar to sc1. Learn the units first then try reading strategies and counter ur enemy with proper units. You want to scout a lot. Ull ve fine. I played sc1 but only in early 2000s. I played beta for about 2 months and i was silver when beta ended. Not amazing but average i would say. U can learn if u do the right things. Again : read strategies, know ur units, watch replays on youtube. Huskystarcraft and starcraftHD are amazing at explaining. I learnt a lot from them. Sorry for broken up phrases. Via iphone
Well, the television commercials will probably attract a lot players who are new to the series or RTS in general, since I'm seeing them much more often these days. Anyone who played Starcraft probably already knows it's coming, so all of the advertising it going to attract some noobs for sure.
Most players who played the beta are avid starcraft fans.. so yes once the actual game comes out there will be alot more new players... dont listen to this guy.
What what interview would that be? I personally know a lot of ppl who are going to buy SC2 and didn't get a beta key for 2 reasons. 1) Bad Luck 2) They didn't bother trying to get in b/c they wanted to wait. -This interview/survey does not account for people ho are just getting interested in SC2 right now. -Also, that interview would be biased. In a scientific study, 1 interview/survey does not represent the interested population. Those who Take SC2 surveys different from those who don't. Those who found the survey only represent a small population. I'm don't mean to be anal about what you said but, I don't want that statement to worry new players. @AeG There WILL be lots of new players, I wouldn't worry.
They are expecting 4 million sales .. and 800,000 copies sold already. I am sure there are going to be a lot of noobs .. including me
