    It's Movember time!

    [IMG][IMG]

My cousin's just organised a group, Fizz's Frizzy Mo's, so I've joined. Feel free to donate, though I'm fairly sure none of you will. If you won't or can't or whatever, seriously, organise a group of your own, or you can join this one if you want.

    [IMG][IMG]

If you're going to, shave tomorrow and take a picture if you're able, then grow a mo like you've never grown a mo like you before! Unless you've grown a pretty epic mo before, in which case you should grow a mo exactly like you've grown a mo before!

    GET INVOLVED!

Lawl. But remember what this thread is about... Movember! Grow a mo to fight prostate cancer. Get involved, regardless of how you do. Good cause.

Don't make me go into detail about what every guy here will need to go through whenever they need a prostate exam.

Been there, done that. Not nice, but necessary.

Question: how does growing a moustache fight prostate cancer?

Yeah, Kuvasz took the words from my fingers. I've heard of this from my Aussie friends before, but don't see how it fights prostate cancer...

Sorry kurai-san, this is a game you can't play.

Just imagining kurai-san with a mustache is funny though.

I decided to grow one this morning.

Here's the shot, taken like thirty seconds ago.

At least you know what I'm on about, haha.
You get sponsors. It can be for someone who's clean shaven growing a mo for the whole of Movember, or for someone who's got a massive beard, a weird distinctive, or has had a beard for as long as you can remember, and they shave it off at the end.
Lawl, guess again! There's a whole lotta stuff on the Movember webstie about Mo Sistas! Mainly involves taking crazy pictures with fake moustaches... So I don't really see how it works, but, due to not being a Mo Sista, I haven't really looking into it. You can always sponsor someone, or just give a general donation. Prostate cancer to us guys is just like breast cancer to your girls, only our screening process is a lot less pleasant. That, and breast cancer has a lot more publicity and is promoted far more often than prostate cancer is.

Fenix's obviously found the site, haha.

    Lawl at Willy.

But seriously, and interestingly, got this info in the recruitment email...

    And this from the website:

To put it globally, it's least common in South and East Asia, which I assume Australia would be classified under but I'm not sure, more common in Europe and the most common in America.

For the U.S, More than 186,000 men in the US will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year.

Men access health services 30-40% less than women, thereby denying themselves the chance for prevention and early detection of common diseases.

It's also the second largest cause of male cancer deaths after lung cancer.

For the U.K, every year nearly 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and 10,000 men die from it. Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK - every hour at least one man dies from this disease.

Canada: Of major concern though, is that every year around 24,700 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 4,300 die of the disease, making it the number one cancer threat to Canadian men. In his lifetime, a Canadian man has a 1 in 7 chance of being diagnosed with the disease.

New Zealand: Around 2,700 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year and around 600 men die from it - (that's nearly two each day).

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 18-35 years. The number of men diagnosed with testicular cancer has grown by approximately 34% over the past decade, but the reason for this is not known. The good news is testicular cancer is highly curable when found early and treated promptly.

Ireland: Of major concern though, is that this year around 1,200 Irish men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 500 will die of the disease, making it the second largest cause of male cancer deaths. More men die of prostate cancer per head of population in Ireland than do in England, Scotland and Wales.

They're just some extracts taken from the various Movember websites, except for the Spanish one. Couldn't read that one obviously.

What, you don't know Spanish? For shame.
