If you're into Worms Armageddon you have to try the Bow and Arrow scheme, if you haven't already. ****load of fun :D It's a scheme that often makes me laugh out loud literally
Here's a small video of what it's like:

(might want to turn down the volume :D)

Anyway. As I'm a huge fan of B&A and the levels that circulate the community are mediocre at best (i.e. ~5 types of small pieces of land scattered with no aesthetic border but the in-game one, etc.) I thought I'd fire up Photoshop and see what I can come up with as a tribute to the mode.
As reference, here are two maps:
http://www.wmdb.org/maps/8993-full
http://www.wmdb.org/maps/8091-full <- this is quite nice but is a bit dull and repetitive

So. I present to you the beta of: Arctic B&A
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj50/kuvasz88/BnA_arctic_sample.jpg
(Original is at 1920x1920)

Everything you see in it is through in-game screenshot copy-pastes and custom brushes like the snowflakes as islands, jetpack fumes, and the freezer gun (which was readily converted from the in-game flamethrower :p). Hats were added manually.
It's supposed to depict a free for all "war" among a few worms using bows, throwing (and sometimes shooting) snowballs, trying to escape (sometimes failing), etc.
This is the indestructible level itself with no in-game worms in it.

So. Do you think it looks interesting? Tempting to play on? Or do you have suggestions? I want to hear your thoughts to perfect this level before letting it loose. I want it to rawk :D

No, it's not in the arcade... this is a 'regular' game software. If you didn't know this then I won't go into how you could play it because there's not much point ;)

The map has already undergone some major changes. I added a walrus, a nesting bird, a submarine periscope painted by moi, and a few new worms. It's a bit tricky to get the colours to be as close as possible without making the map too monotone. The final level has to have no more than 112 colours, but around 104 is recommended to avoid background colour fragmentation.

I love it, but only have Worms 2.
I there a lot of difference, or would you reccomend buying it?

About the map now. I just think that it looks great, but a bit hard to say a lot without knowing what weapons are allowed. So: what weapons are allowed, and is everything indestructable? Is there rising water?

Yeah I should've explained the scheme briefly. There's unlimited longbow and parachute, and you have (in some schemes unlimited) low-gravity, so you can hop up the pieces of land by mixing your jump, chute, and lowgrav combos together with the wind. Every piece of land not occupied by a worm at the start gets a mine, and all mines have a 0 fuse (the chain reaction you see in the video is caused by the mines). Everything is indestructible, and normally there's no rising water.

What makes this scheme fun is that if you hit a worm say at the top of the level it'll kickstart a whole set of things because of the mine blasts, bumping into other worms as they make their way downwards. Because of the condensed pieces of land mines will bounce in an unpredictable way and there's the chance of you causing the most damage to your own team in the end :)

Oh and yes I can recommend buying WA. It's still played by many people and there is an assortment of schemes for ample variety.

I will take a look around in my local (internet) store. I guess it must still be available somewhere.

As for the mines: maybe an 0.2 fuse if that is possible. Worms will still be caught in the blast, but the flight will be even harder to predict. Although, it has a larger chance of blasting you further down. That would make players compete more to get to the high ground. Good idea? Oh, and perhaps a grapple every two turns at the bottem. Just to give dying worms at the bottem a slight advantage. That should balance the high ground a bit, and give players strategic choices to make.

You can only set the fuse in integer seconds. But don't worry the 0 fuse is actually just a very small fraction of a second, not fully instant. Works a charm :p

As for the grapple, this scheme is not for the complete newbie, hence there's no rope or teleport or anything - what I listed up there is the full arsenal at your disposal. It works, so I won't try to fix what isn't broken. Actually I have jetpack allowed (which isn't in the commonest form of BnA) because it's fun to try and navigate between the mines... and even more fun when someone fails :D

Also if anyone's interested the level is shaping nicely. I don't want to pump it full of "doodads" because then it'll just look sloppy. Here's its current state:
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj50/kuvasz88/BnA_arctic_sample-1.jpg
It plays really well, but maybe a few more big snowflakes would come in handy here and there, just to allow for more mines/worms. However, less snowflakes will make it possible to shoot your arrows for longer distances without getting stuck in one of them, which is often the case with B&A levels. I'll need to find the right balance.

Bumpage. I have finalised the level which can be viewed and downloaded here. There are quite a lot of changes compared to the phases posted here, but I think all of them are for the better.

If you happen to have WA and try this level, hf :)

I like the face thing, but to bad you can't shoot it. Lol. But that map looks awesome, and 30 worms minimum is quite a lot. Worms 2 supported that as the max iirc.
I tried getting the game, but no store sells it anymore. And not pirating, because this game is only awesome on the internet. Hm, stupid webstores here.

Extremely cool. It was a difficult game, drained your mental approach.

Bumpage.

I've come a long way since the starting of this thread. I've created quite a few maps, but the reason I'm bumping this now is that I finished my latest project, which depicts Starcraft, so I thought some of you might be interested at least as far as checking out goes.

Hope you find some to your liking.

Aw, man! I never realised that WA stands for Worms Armageddon and always skipped this thread for some reason! Ever since worms 1 I've been in love with this series up until 3d which I didn't like due to losing it's original feeling... We used to organise tournaments at my place back at school like every week with a few friends... You stirred up a hidden passion there!

Changed thread title and tags for clarity.

But I guess there aren't many players around here :D I'm quitting myself.
