So if I want to add someone as a friend or to talk to them, how do I figure out what their identifier name is? All I can see is their normal name, and there doesn't seem to be any search feature to find people. There must be a way to do it without the person telling you, as I've gotten messages from people who I never gave my identifier name out.
If you can get to their profile, click add friend at the topic. Other than that, depending on the situation, you can only add them if you know their identifier.
But how do I even get to their profile when all I know is their ingame name? Most people I fight aren't in the same ladder group as me, so I cant use that to see their name/identifier. Somehow people are able to talk to me without me giving my identifier, so there must be some way to figure out people's identifier name...or there's just something I haven't found out yet about talking to ppl
Yeah its really weird, I share a computer with a friend, and we have different accounts. I played a 2on2 with this guy and I was able to add him from the score screen. The replays are actually saved to your computer or something, because I can see my friends replays, he accessed my replay and clicked his name, He couldn't click view profile, only add friend, but when he would click it it wouldn't add him to his list. So maybe they still gotta work some things out on it.
Best I can tell, after you finish a match with someone you can view their profile for a couple of hours(the easiest way is to hit your match history and in the game overview right click their name and view profile) after that you are no longer allowed to view that players profile unless you are on their friend list. Or possibly only if they are on your friend list, but I haven't tested that. I would imagine the people messaging you are just adding you after matches. Also you can only add a friend that was an opponent of your account, and once again there is a window of at least 1 hour (I think <24 hours but I'm not sure the exact figure) I will look into exactly how large the window is to add a friend/view their profile. Edit: I also meant to add that the system seems to be working perfectly, and I can understand this concept fully. I think its a great alternative to a search function. However, there should definitely be an easier way to make new friends than simply playing against them. I'm sure there will be chatrooms and what-not when the final release comes around and it will alleviate this issue.
