I really have no clue how to beat protoss. At lower ranks I would just go mmm and beat them mid game, but ever since I got to platinum I lose to EVERY protoss. I'm still advancing because I beat zerg consistently and most terrans, but nothing I have tried beats protoss. They always push mid game with a few zealots, mass stalkers and 3-4 sentries. If I go bio mmm, I will usually have 2-4 medivacs that have just finished and a 2/1 marauder/marine ratio to do extra damage vs armored sentries. Their push always destroys my army. I've tried siege tanks, and they just blink right on top of them, and again destroy me. I've tried tank/thor mech build with marine support, and their push comes way too early for me to defend it. It's gotten to the point where I just try to get lucky with reapers because I know I'm going to lose to their push, but any good protoss player will put his first few stalkers in the back of his base to defend against this. What does terran do vs. protoss to win at platinum or diamond level? I haven't tried ghosts (I've actually never trained a single ghost so I don't feel comfortable using them) but maybe their emp is the answer? Please help - thanks!
Do you have build orders? There ain't just ONE single style to beat protoss. I've saw many styles but the best where the marine maurauders early game. MMM mid-game and MMM plus ghosts late game. It's a very smooth transition. I saw some 5 rax marines and maurauders vs protoss. I saw some 2 rax into factory into starport. I saw some 1 rax into factory into expand. Some 1/1/1 build for banshees. It's really up to you to decide what style your gonna make against protoss and that's what makes this game so fun to learn.
I've tried a few different builds. This is my first post here so I'm not used to the lingo but does 1/1/1 mean 1rax/1factory/1starport? If so, then my standard mmm build vs. terran and zerg is 3/1/2. I've tried a lot of variations vs. protoss but nothing has worked for me. I've tried 5 rax and their mid game push still beats me. I only started seeing this zealot/stalker/sentry push recently but it seems like EVERY protoss is doing it now. Immortals follow soon afterwards, which I try to focus down with marauders but I lose anyway. Anyway, I usually don't make it to late game, but how would you suggest I use ghosts?
See if you can post some replays. Since there are so many things that protoss can do, there are just as many ways to beat them. It is easier to deal with specific issues
I don't know how to post videos. However, does anyone have some videos I could watch of some diamond level tvp games? I'm sure that would help me a lot.
Any help? I just watched a few videos on youtube and it looks like a 1/1/1 build with a mix of marines, siege tanks, banshees, and a raven works well. Does anyone know a good build order for this? I've never done this before.
A standard terran build for MMM outnumbers the protoss army, they need micro to beat you. With 4 medivacs, you can do a small drop using only one, to keep his micro attention split so that you can brute force through his army.
Ghosts are key against protoss imo. I'm only in gold league (at the top) but one strategy i use invovles early ghosts. You get 2 early rax and place a reactor on the first and tech lab on the second. Pump marines and reasearch combat shield. Next get second gas and build a ghost academy. Research mobeous reactor and make a couple ghosts. At this point i sometimes attack. Otherwise just tech to medicavs while adding on raxes or expanding and wait for his push. Hope this helps
build less maruders more mmarines your ratio is off it should be 2 marines to 1 maruders marine do more Damege compared to cost even vs armored ( maurders are good cause they have health) get the stim pack and you will rip through everything he has. if you want to get ghost go ahead but you cant realistically 1 base ghosts. simply put do not underestimate te power of the marines cause they do alot of dam and it sucks. ( i dont think i should have given this advise being a protoss player myersefl)
