Has anyone else seen this news article? Apparently some guy found the new prototype iPhone 4.0 in a bar and, since it was a prototype (which doesn't technically exist), couldn't figure out who the owner was, and was turned away by Apple's support desk. He then sold the phone (?) to a tech blog called Gizmodo who reviewed the phone. Now Apple is claiming the phone was stolen and is pressing charges against the journalist. http://www.businessweek.com/news/20...one-prototype-was-stolen-prosecutor-says.html Sounds a little like China's dictatorship, don't you think? If the guy found the phone and honestly tried to call Apple to return it, he's not at fault because it wasn't stolen. And just because the tech journalist bought the phone doesn't mean he's at fault either. Apple's the ones with the careless employees who left the phone out in the open... Apparently California police raided the journalist's office and took his computers to "investigate the theft" which is a bunch of crap. I don't remember the police grabbing the thief's computers when my laptop was stolen. This is clearly a case of Apple pulling its weight and corruption in the judicial system in Cali. Any thoughts?
Hahahaha, I saw that on the daily show a couple nights ago...I guess they kicked down his door while he was eating dinner...(after he gave the phone back???) apple makes me lol
That is old news. And Apple have all right to persue the matter. As would any other tech company if their prototype products were misplaced or lost. But Apple did not warrant the search on the gizmodo man's house. Apple just filed it with the police and the police in their work on the case broke into his place. And they found the man already. http://www.appleinsider.com/article...iphone_prototypes_finder_keeper_revealed.html And you do know all of this mess just gets more pople talking about Apple. And more publicity is always good. ********** I do blame Apple for this for letting the prototype out in the hands of someone so stupid. Shame on Apple. But at least they didn't make a product and tell the world "we made a product and will never mass produce it for general sale". That's Microsoft and their Courior tablet. http://www.appleinsider.com/article...rier_tablet_quashes_hopes_of_shipping_it.html I find that funny. They waste R&D money in a product they will never release .
I'm saying Apple has no right to claim special circumstance on this particular iPhone just because it's a prototype. They allowed it outside the building (whether that's the company's fault or the employee's). That means its just any other device. If you found an iPod somewhere and then posted on Craigslist that you had found one and no one came to claim it in 30 days, would you consider that stealing it? The guy (apparently) called Apple to report that he had found to phone in an attempt to find the owner. Apple blew him off, so he assumed it Apple didn't want it or it wasn't theirs. How is that stealing the phone? So what I'm basically saying is that Apple has used its power and influence to force the police into cracking down on the case and committing what are basically illegal searches and arrests to punish those involved.
