Some times you see dark templars used. Not in one game have I seen a high Templar used. Why is that? I love eating players with a set of 3 dark templars. Usually wipe out one small base and a good chunk of units before they adapt. Though I haven't tried high Templar. I've just been thinking it would help with turtle players. The ones that go swarm crazy and get 1 billion lings and hydras (to the point they kill off my slower attacking, higher damage protoss units. This from a top 8 silver leagued 1v1 perspective.

I use them on rare occasions against zerg players. If I expect a spire to go up soon and I have the resources I will usually put 1-3 out just to keep mutas off my back for a bit. Have also had some luck with loading them in warp prism for a quick harass. Drop the templar and psi storm the workers and warp in a few zealots. It makes a great tool if you need to distract your opponent to pull your other units in the front door, also players mains tend to be cramped around their CC so another well places psi storm (or 2) can do quite a bit of damage to any military they try to bring back to defend, making the entire battle just a little easier. And when they run out of energy you might be able to pop an archon in their main and continue to warp in zealots. They still have a solid place in the toss lineup, but a lot of their old roles have certainly been outsourced.

That's when sentry comes in. Couple force fields behind them would make them walk around the psi storm. Also walking out of a psi might mean you stopping the attack while getting hit.

Back to the topic, I've seen a lot of HT usage in Pro games for Ghosts. Send an observer in, shift que feedback on all Ghosts, Whala~ no more EMP.

Yes, because the Feedback range is +2 larger than the EMP range. Which is total crapcakes.

having templars and sentries is a very very gas heavy build, normaly you see zeals and templars come into play (zeals to burn the minerals, templars are gas heavy), but I guess this makes you open to air attacks.

I wonder exactly the same thing......
been played against P for quite a few matches, not seen one high templar

Im happy with this though......they were sooooooo strong in SC1, so i believe they will eventually come out when SC2 released

I have been playing SC2 since the very start of beta, and always been in platinum. maybe 5% of the games, probably less within that high end of the game play use high templars. They are just not balanced enough.

I am a P player, pretty new to the Beta and I use HT as protection, when players try to harass my econ early game or try to pass my blockaded ramp, I can free cast off with the HT and it usually pays off. Then again I am in a lower bracket and I'm not really playing "Pros" yet, they still work for me and I usually end up making a couple to protect myself.

Plus they take out Z forces pretty well, and even some T forces in the earlier stages of the game.

I use protoss a lot, and only tried high templar once. Psistorm is so weak zerglings can run through it without dieing and proceed to attack your army.

And for being with Sentrys, that would work if my laptop wasnt old and causes lag whenever large battles start. I have enough trouble just trying to get the Sentrys to place the Force Field before they die.

HT's are still pretty nice against hydralisks because they are so rediculously slow now. They are also very nice against terran, since they actually usually get some infantry unlike in SC1.

It's true though that colossi are still better in almost every way. But colossi have glaring weakness against air units like void rays, vikings, and ESPECIALLY the new corrupters who can both corrupt colossi AND shoot them! So if any of those get massed then it would be a bad idea to get colossi instead of HT's.
