I just patched for beta 2, everything works fine except I have absolutely no sound in game or in the menu. I checked Windows 7 to see if sc2 was muted, it was not. The options menu in game says sound is on and at 100% volume. I can't seem to work it out short of uninstalling it and re-downloading all the patches, and even that is no guarantee at this point.
I'm having the exact same issue. What are your system specs? Mine: Windows 7 - 64bit Intel i7 920 Radeon HD 4890 6GB DDR3 RAM And I use the motherboard 7.1 audio. I've never had any sound issues like this in any other games, or in the SC2 beta 1. I'm currently downloading beta 2 to my laptop to see if it works on there...
Couldn't find an edit button so I'll just post again. It works on my laptop, and I installed up to date sound drivers on my desktop and the sound still isn't working in StarCraft 2. I am out of ideas.
Update: I have tried reinstalling the game. Still no sound... hoping this is a beta issue and will be resolved because I'm completely out of ideas. I see no reason why it's my system since in beta 1 the sound worked fine for me. Edit: I found out it's an issue with 7.1/5.1 setups. If you change it to stereo the sound should work. I guess it's a bug and hopefully it will be fixed. I'm not sure if this is an issue with everyone or only a small number of people, but I set mine to stereo in the sound options and the sound works now.
