I watched the entire thing live, speeches were horribly boring but other than that the entire thing was quite a show, the part where they actually lit the flame was possibly the best. Its sort of sad to think of how stupidly the government handled the controversies leading up to the games though.
I watched it. I started watching it from some arrivals of the foreign countries, the last ones. Morocco, Australia, Zambia and finally China. Ten minutes just for China And afterwards, I liked when the soldiers took the Olympic flag. They were like robots ! The show was huge !! I liked it ! I liked the last moment when the last man was flying and running to the torche. Wonderful ! Awesome !!
Just saw it. The bit with the people walking around the globe as awesome, as were the fireworks. And now to sit through the parade of nations...180-something left...
I watched most of it and thought it was really amazing. I think they kinda overdid the massive amount of people all well coordinated thing though. Would've been good if they'd used the alphabet for the countries...had to wait until like 201 for Australia to come out! But even more amazing was the complete lack of media attention towards war breaking out between Russia and Georgia :O. Good timing i guess get all the civilian killing out of the way during the olympics and no one will pay any attention xD.
As if they could overdo the mass coordination. That was absolutely insane, especially the typewriter-style part where there was actually person inside each one. Not to mention the countdown, mass drumming, the rings, the priests, etc. It was mind-boggling. Also, I think they did go alphabetically, except for the traditions where the last country to host goes first, etc, but it was using their alphabet.
I just saw the closing ceremony, In comparison to the opening one it was actually on par, originally I thought the closing ceremony would be inferior. Though.... the introduction of England with the transforming double decker was..... uhh..... less impressive than everything else...
