Origin Of Your Screen Name

Post and explain the history and decisions involved in deciding your screen name.


My name is a quiet tribute to my friends, family, personality, and interests. I was in 6th grade when my half-sister told me she was pregnant: at the time I was working on a poster for my science class: a model of the Neon atom. So in that sense, 10-Neon reflects the moment when I learned about my nephew.

I love science, and chemistry is a part of that. The use of an atomic number and name reflects that interest. Also, neon is a noble gas used in several types of lasers, incidentally, Optics is one of my favorite scientific fields.

You probably don't see it here, but in real life I am a shockingly quiet person. My shyness and silence are pretty much all that's shocking about me tough, because I consider myself to be much more mentally stable, and self-aware than most of my peers. The element neon, like all of the other noble gasses, is extremely stable and nonreactive- it doesn't readily interact with other elements, and it does not require other atoms' electrons in order to become stable.

The literal reason for the choice of this name is that when I finally got my best friend to buy StarCraft, he chose a name with an element in it (Sodium70mg, straight from a can of Mountain Dew). I decided to change my battle.net screen name to mimic it.

On a practical side, my name is easy to shorten. People can refer to me as "10" or "Ne" (Not Neo, please!) and with two letters address a message to me. It helps a lot in online games. Some of my friends have adopted element names as well, and we refer to each other by our atomic symbols, like Ne, Na, B, and As.

I won't say my name but my name is derived from the name Robert.
Robert is said to be originated in the US and it means "Bright and Fame"

Well when I was younger, I used to not have a specific screen name. I would just type some random, cool-sounding word and play. When I got to Reject, I noticed that some people liked it, so for some strange reason I stopped at it.

The 6s have a different story. When the time had come for me to create my first Yahoo Messenger/Mail ID, the first thing I tried was Reject. It was taken, so I noticed that it was 6 o'clock so I tried Reject_6. It turned out that it was taken as well. I tried Reject_66 and Reject_666 next. Nothin' . Being on the verge of giving up and choosing a completely random name, I tried tried my last choice as Reject_666_6, and by jove it worked!

A assume by "name" you mean user ID.

Remy is from the cognac Remy Martin, a drink that I like.

I am also often Remy XO, Remy 22, or some other variation.

In other mutli-ID games I've gone with Remy -> Remy VS -> Remy VSOP -> Remy XO as my skills improved. I think I've done this for SC1 and WC3(beta to original, not expansion).

Well, I was playing an MMO and wanted a deathknight name. So I thought of the name "Lanki Fallrider" (don't ask how, I don't know either) for about a year until people started butchering the word Lanki, so now I'm just Fallrider, I've been using it for about 4 years now.

I got my S/N because Fenix freaking rocks. Totally awesome guy.

 

I got "windwalker" from the Warcraft 3 ability called windwalk. This ability's originally from the Orc Blademaster which makes him invisible and gives faster movespeed for a short period.

 

Agamemnon is my gamer alias whenever I play online games. I chose it because I am a huge sci-fi fan and it was the name of Commander Sheridan's ship before he lead Babylon 5. Also, when I was younger I read heavily about ancient history as well as Greek mythology. Agamemnon was a Greek general in the Paris/Troy story.

 

Anyone ever play the custom map Golems on Starcraft over the net? Yeah well the Water Golem was the marine, I just liked getting a group of these guys and messing with peoples heads as i stim packed them and destroyed all their hard earned 'lings. And any annoying camper with their damn siege golems...bastards

mc2 is the initials for Midnight Club 2. It's a street racing game that I've always liked.
I think my screen name is mc2 for all forums on the net unless it's already been taken..

 

Who would take it? I thought it was just random letters you typed in.

 

Believe it or not my screen name has been taken in a lot of places.
Hotmail, wikipedia, 4 other forums, etc etc.

Yeah a lot of people though my name stands for E=mc2 or something like that before i explained to them what it exactly meant.

 

My last name is Crow and I'm somewhat scarecrowish in every aspect.

 

Judas Priest is a band, and they freaking rock. I tried to name my LLD dueler on Diablo 2 JudasPriest, but sadly it was taken, so i did what any other kid would do and put an X in the middle. Motley[Crue] is usually my account name for EVERYTHING, but strangely I sign up to every forum under JudasXPriest. . I wish I had some interesting story like 10-Neon... but Im just named after a band lol.
